ErikModi Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 So, I'm having a slightly weird issue. Every once in awhile, rare enough not to really be a problem but common enough to be noticeable, an NPC refuses to die. They go down to about one-third health, then just will not take any more damage. Eventually, things seem to kick in, and they take damage and die normally. It seems to only happen after a "finishing" move (one very funny instance had my Dragonborn lopping the head off a Draugr [which had an arrow through each eye socket, which just made the whole thing even more amusing] and the head just hung in midair while the headless Dragur continued to fight for a minute or two before finally realizing he was really, actually dead this time.) I'm not running any kind of alternate death/surrender mods, so I'm wondering what might be causing this problem.
Emberheart Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 This is a problem that happens in the game when a NPC is supposed to be killed with a finishing move while the animation is interrupted. When a finishing move is done, the game plays a little script protecting that NPC from dying until that animation is done. If the animation is interrupted, that NPC is protected temporarily from death, while the animation triggering death does not occur. Usually fall/fling damage (Fus Ro Da) or waiting will kill the NPC. Often weapons with knockback and such can cause this, or badly timed shouts.
ErikModi Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Okay. Not sure what's interrupting the animation, since it seems to complete, but it also seems to "hesitate" getting started.
Nightmyste Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 options menu in the normal startup directly from steam, so no use of SKSE
ErikModi Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Yeah, I'm using SKSE all the time now. For werewolfery and other stuff.
