Hi y'all,

I am interested in using  SexLab , but noticed that SKSE 1.7.0 is needed.  I am using the SKSE 1.06.something and had a hell of time installing it so it worked the way it should until VectorPlexus told me how to do it (I was having problems with SOS because of SKSE).    Did anyone have a problem upgrading and/or installing it?   And if so what did you have to do to correct any problems you might have had?  Or any tips you might be able to pass along to me would be greatly appreciated.

Installs like every other version of SKSE. New things you can turn on after you install it to reduce the CTDs caused by memory usage problems but nothing in the install changed from older versions.

Whoa, wait, what?

I've been holding off on upgrading since it's alpha, but people have said it's stable. But what's this talk of CTD issues?

SKSE 1.7.0 is stable.  I believe what WaxenFigure means is that the latest alpha version has the power to stop a certain kind of CTD from occurring if you activate that feature.

From what I understand, Skyrim has a memory cap.  It can only use a certain amount of memory and once it goes over that memory limit it shuts itself off.  It doesn't matter how good your computer system is, as soon as you hit that memory cap Skyrim will CTD.

Fortunately there is a mod out, SSME, that fixes this issue.  It is also included in the alpha version of SKSE but you have to turn that feature on in order for it to work.

Gopher does a wonderful job of explaining it in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xAMUQc1oY&feature=kp

He also explains how to install SKSE in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGnQIiNVqA&list=TLVw1awlu8YSEPwH1PxZA6qzhOamXgMvp7

TLDR: watch Gopher's videos for info on how to install SKSE and what CTD the latest alpha version can prevent/help with.

I'm already using SSME, so if it fixes the same thing, non-issue for me.

I appreciate all the great info from you guys.  I am still holding off on installing the SKSE 1.7 until I decide if I am going to put in SexLab or not.  I have so many mods already that I'm a little leery about adding large files.   When I have too many large mods my machine tends to CTD right after the loading screen comes on at startup..  Maybe SSME will help that.  I just installed it.   Once again thanks for the input.

Well SKSE 1.7 has the same memory patch as SSME so if you ever do decided to switch you can drop SSME and just use SKSE. Both help so you can run more large mods as it doubles the ram the game uses for certain things.

Not trying to convince you only giving you info. Sexlab while fairly large is just a framework it doesn't run or do anything until another mod calls up functions for it. So it should have no performance impact on your computer, because most of it is off most of the time if not all the time.

With that said be careful if you do install sexlab to not install to many sexlab related mods that do run all the time.

Thank you.  That is the kind of info I needed to learn about.  That just put me a couple of steps closer to DL SexLab.  But...ain't that what friends are for?

No worries and you're more than welcome. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask. I am still in the grand scheme of things a noob myself. I only started modding Skyrim in November 2013, but I have made a lot of blunders along the way and learned a lot, often the hard way since then.

So I feel i can now help others, I have learned enough I can make my skyrim heavily modded and stable. But still remember in recent memory just how hard it can be learning how to mod really is, when you are very new to modding. What becomes simple and easy with a bit of time, was daunting and confusing when i was new. :)

That's not about computer. It's about Skyrim hitting 256 mb on it's first memory block, after this it has a chance to CTD when trying to allocate more memory. Sheson's patch allows to preallocate larger memory block, getting rid of this problem(unless you hit your new limit). And Skyrim will still never use more then 4gb of memory.

That's why we need ENBoost. In theory, it can allow Skyrim to use up to 128Gb of memory.

Hello Skse limitirt the memory, the memory test showed in the case of me max 1gb RAM and 800 MB Vram

SSME does not solve this Missere where is the 4GB memory use

With a normal play without SKSE Were 4 GB Usable

I am German pardon my bad English

Maybe because it reduces memory usage aswell? Because ENB has a setting that reduces ram usage.

OK, I did it.  I installed the new SKSE and SexLab along with the update for it.  Everything seems to be running fine.

Thanks for all the help, I really do appreciate it.  Especially "nutluck" since it was his info about SexLab being a framework that does not run constantly.   I may have some questions about the way it is laid out in mod configuration.  But let me play with it and see what happens.

Again, thanks to all of y'all.

Just remember Sexlab is just a framework, so it doesn't actually do anything on it's own. You need other mods to get anything to happen. Matchmaker is consider the defacto text mod, since it lets you start any of the sex animations with anyone or anything at anytime. Just to test things out to be sure sexlab is working correctly.
