Lamae Bal Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I've been doing the Kvatch part of the main quest on my new character, and for some reason when we break into the city from the chapel and finish killing the first wave of Daedra, everything gets super stuttery. I swear I've seen this happen before years ago... don't know if I figured it out but I'm clueless as to what it could be now. I'm imagining it's possible that it's just the AI completely spazzing out between the soldiers on the ground and the ones up on the terrace on top of the Kvatch wall. I tried pcb which cleared some stuff but didn't fix anything. Restarting the game and going back into the church and out again didn't work. I haven't tried restarting the PC yet. Here's my load order just in case it has something to do with mods: http://pastebin.com/MfxZgLdb Thanks in advance for all and any help.
kingkong Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 i do not know why you have this probleme may be someone else will have an other idee the only lead i have is the number of mods you have exceed the number that normaly oblivion can manage normaly the maximum is 255 (including esp and esm check or uncheck ) personnaly i think more than 100 limit to 150 it can get awfull (a lot of issues and conflicts) i might be mistaken try to reduce the number of mods to a maximum of 200 and see what happening than add them back to the limit of 250 and see and then to 255 the maximum
Lamae Bal Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 I only have 245 plugins actually active. "++" ones mean merged into bashed patch.
gregathit Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 There are a shit load of hard and soft limits. Some of those depend on your computer and others depend on the mods you have installed. If you are stuttering then you are bumping up against either the hard or soft limits and need to look at paring down. Remember that Oblivion is an old game that is CPU driven. That means all instructions go through the CPU. This includes graphics as well. It is a major bottleneck. Even worse, Oblivion will only use one core of your CPU. Some things you can try are using Oblivion Stutter Remover (OSR) which you can find over at the Nexus and also there you can grab Streamline. Those two plugins could help you get things back working. Cheers, Greg
Lamae Bal Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks for the insight, I guess that's what must be happening then? That's too bad. I'm already using OSR and Streamline as well as CleanUp and other tweaks/mods. It's weird, because I've never seen anything like this, although in some parts of Cyrodiil, like near Leyawiin sometimes the FPS drops to 6. And the Waterfront of course is worse. But I've never really noticed stutter in those places. I guess I'll just have to live with it then; it's pretty much a useless place to be anyway outside the quest. Thanks for the help.
gregathit Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 The waterfront is a known slow down area. Very little can be done about that. The best advice I can offer is avoid high rez textures. Anything larger than 1024 is just a waste.
