esserius Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I just wanted to know if anyone has ever created a mod that changes arrow flight speed to slow it down? I am mostly asking as a curiosity, particularly as spells like slow time clearly allow for slowing down objects in flight (yet they still retain their hitboxes and normal damage), I am wondering if it is possible to apply such an effect to just arrows. Mostly curious about this as I'm wanting to potentially create Dark Souls-like arrow flight speed in Skyrim. I've seen a ton of realism mods for arrows, but this would be a gameplay mod that would make arrows feel less like random things you just get hit by sometimes because you never knew they were coming. And yeah, I would apply the mod to player-fired arrows as well, so I don't mind it being a global-type mod (in fact I would prefer it). Anyways, any help or info regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Guest corespore Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Arrow speed can be adjusted in CK (the creation kit). However, there's a catch, the game engine works in a similar fashion to real life gravity in that slowing down arrows causes them to fall faster. You can somewhat counteract this by lowering the projectiles gravity. So if you lower both the gravity and speed you might be able to slow the arrows without them dropping like tossed rocks. Remember that arrows, once fired, from bows are treated as projectiles. So you will need to make the projectile first, then add the projectile (arrow) in the ammo section. The Ammo arrow is the static object as in the thing that sits in the quiver and lays on the ground. Hopefully i'm not making this sound complicated but basically you start from the last part then work to the finished arrow. Here's a video that explains what i'm trying to explain, if you have any questions feel free to message me and i'll help if i can.
Veladarius Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Arrow speed can also be changed when setting up the bashed patch in Wrye Bash along with a number of other settings.
