The_Only_Janitor Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I noticed a file on TESNexus the other day, containing replacers for the Daedric Greatsword with various Monster Hunter greatswords, naturally, it was deleted almost immediately, but I was able to download it first. I've been working on converting all those models and textures into a non-replacer crafting mod, as close to actual Monster Hunter crafting as I can. 1 Jawblade 2 Ravager Blade 3 Iron Sword 4 Buster Blade/Chrome Razor 5 Bone Blade 6 Golem Blade 7 Rugged Great Sword 8 Carapace Sword 9 Ludroth Bone Sword 10 Lagiacrus Sword 11 Siegmund 12 Sieglinde 13 Red Wing 14 Deviljho Sword 15 Diablos Hornsword 16 Viking Hornsword 17 Vulcanis 18 High Lagia Blade 19 Rusted Great Sword 20 Ancient Blade 21 Epitaph Blade 22 Alatreon Great Sword 23 Wyvern Jawblade 24 Cataclysm Blade 25 Lion's Bane 26 Brazenwall All of these are ripped models/textures from Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. Screenshots [updated Jan 22] Update: The weapons in this mod are all craftable using a forge, and many require earlier swords to make. This is a list on the upgrade paths for each sword. The Iron Sword has 3 upgrade paths. Iron Sword>Buster Blade>Ravager Blade>Brazenwall Iron Sword>Rugged Great Sword>Lagiacrus Blade>High Lagia Blade Iron Sword>Rugged Great Sword>Carapace Sword The Bone Blade has 5 upgrade paths. Bone Blade>Jawblade>Red Wing Bone Blade>Jawblade>Wyvern Jawblade>Diablos Hornsword Bone Blade>Jawblade>Golem Blade>Siegmund Bone Blade>Jawblade>Golem Blade>Sieglinde Bone Blade>Ludroth Bone Sword>Cataclysm Blade The Rusted Great Sword has 1 upgrade path. Rusted Great Sword>Ancient Blade>Epitaph Blade The rest of the weapons are craftable and do not have upgrade paths. Deviljho Sword Vulcanis Viking Hornsword Alatreon Great Sword Lion's Bane In general, the first form of a weapon requires no smithing perks, the first upgrade requires steel smithing, the second requires dwarven smithing, the third requires ebony smithing, and the last would require daedric or dragon smithing. The Vulcanis, as it is clearly made of glass, requires Glass Smithing as a perk. As of this first release, every sword is completed and upgradable as I've stated above. They are not upgradable using the grinding wheel yet, though that is still planned. Does anyone know why these swords are so glossy? I'd like to fix this as soon as possible. Download Attachment for the mod. Craftable MHGS.rar
iz Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The guy who ported presumably these: http://www.mediafire.com/?8d424477er8k5a5 Was kind enough to let me download them, he doesn't have a blog and I don't run into him often but he's pretty cool. He also ported some MH armor but he didn't like the way they turned out. The greatswords came from a mod for GMOD which probably ripped them from MH3. MH3's models are insanely easy to rip as well if anyone wants to know more about it you can go here http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=13373 I've ported a few things but nothing worth releasing.. The rips don't include normals . I'm glad you are turning the items into craftables, I tried to do it myself with Skyedit but I couldn't figure out how to add new weapon ID's.
neobunny Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I too managed to grab this before it got taken down from nexus. I honestly wouldnt have a clue what their proper names are, all I know is that I've been using the g16 one replacing daedric greatsword because it goes well with the skimpy dragonplate armor I been using. My only issue with the swords is that they dont really have proper shine on them, like they just have a plain glossy shine all over.
sheogroth Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 more monster hunter we already have rathians and rathalos wyrven replacers( do not start the whole its a wyvern no its a dragon argument to each their own) now we have even more weopons to add cnat wait for ck and for someone to port monsters into skyrim (lao-shan-lung anyone?) to be honest dragonborn fighting lao-shan-lung and making its scale fit in with its description would be an amazing fight its like 1 human vs godzilla lol even better if you cna walk on it and fight it at the same time.

[/quote'] G16, as listed on my list, is the Viking Hornsword crafted from Ceadeus, the end boss from the single player MH3. Update on how things are going so far, #1-6 completed, balanced, and fully craftable. For balancing purposes, each MH greatsword is using the weights, damages, and perk requirements of the relevant warhammer. I thought this was best as the weapons are considerably bigger than the games vanilla greatswords. Each sword is of course still a sword though. All the swords damages are at some point between 20-28 base damage, which are between steel to SLIGHTLY more than Daedric. I haven't integrated the + versions of those swords yet, though its a plan for the future. I've noticed a problem with the overt glossyness of the textures, I know barely anything about texturing, so does anyone know how to fix this?

Just out of curiosity, you say that the weights, damages and perk requirements are in accordance with relevant warhammers and yet it is still a sword. Do you mean that they are considered warhammers in game, yet use sword animations? Or do you mean swords with warhammer animations, weights and damage but are considered swords for perks? I can't wait for your mod to be finished!!
The_Only_Janitor Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Just out of curiosity, you say that the weights, damages and perk requirements are in accordance with relevant warhammers and yet it is still a sword. Do you mean that they are considered warhammers in game, yet use sword animations? Or do you mean swords with warhammer animations, weights and damage but are considered swords for perks? I can't wait for your mod to be finished!! I mean that although the weight and damage value of the Iron Sword (#3) is equal to the weight and damage values of the Steel Warhammer, but the weapon is still considered a sword, so uses the 2handed sword animations, and is affected by the 2handed sword perks and whatnot. So essentially, your using a warhammer that counts for your sword perks, this makes the weapons "feel" more powerful, heavy and slow compared to the vanilla game's greatswords. The reasoning for this is to make Skyrim's regular greatswords still a worthy option to use, because they are considerably faster and lighter than these Monster Hunter greatswords. As of when I went to sleep last night, swords 1-10 are completed, just 16 to go before release! I'll upload the new screenshots later today.
The_Only_Janitor Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Mod released, check the top post for info.
guilmonex Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Great! I love MH! Thanks for the mod! Is it possible to rip those slashaxes? They are my favorite weapons.
The_Only_Janitor Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Great! I love MH! Thanks for the mod! Is it possible to rip those slashaxes? They are my favorite weapons. Actually, I'm looking into that now. If all goes well with my model ripping i'll add in the switchaxes, longswords, and sword/shields. I still dunno how to fix the glossyness problem though, I'm gonna try setting the swords to use a blank full transparent normal map and see if that fixes the issue.
iz Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I can help you, Janitor, but you'll have to make your own normals. The game only has textures and the models. Want to talk on steam? I can run you through it 100%.

guilmonex Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Oh, Janitor, can you make the Alatreon Greatsword to its attack form? If you used that in Mh3 you knew what I mean.

If I can find the models for the unsheathed versions, I'll add them in and integrate both forms into the mod, the same way it works in Monster Hunter.

I'll wait for your good news. ps. I opened the nifs and found that those tines are just inside the blade. I think, you just need a 3D software to pull them out and pull the alatreon sword. And the glossiness of alatreon sword is set to 200....try lowering it.

I also can't seem to find a reference image for the Alatreon Sword's unsheathed version, so that could take a while longer.
guilmonex Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 click on the lightingshader under a trishape and you will see glossiness in the detail window. May be I can take a picture of Alatreon sword in my psp. It extend longer and wider just like the handle.
Veratesh Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Hey there, First post here, so might as well be useful. About the glossiness talk, well strictly speaking, the normals aren't the problem here since they're in the .rar, but what's lacking is the specular map. Sometimes it's the alpha layer of the normal file, but in Skyrim they're in separate files, those _s.dds files as seen in nifskope. Anyway that will not fix the problem. It has to do with several things like the Glossiness which you already know, and also checked parameters in BSLightingShaderProperty -> Shader Flags 1, namely SF_Specular and SF_Environment_Mapping. If unchecked the weapons will not be shiny any more, but you will lose the option to make only the blade reflective for those steel weapons. Well if you don't care about that detail simply put the glossiness to something low below 30 to be sure and uncheck those 2 flags, that should do the trick.
guilmonex Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I changed the specular color to almost black, and the swords looked better now.
kamikaze00007 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 For slower swings, a heavier weapon weight will suffice if I've observed correctly rather than making them total hammers. There is also a Monster Hunter weapons mod on the nex (3 small swords for now) that's being made somewhat from scratch(the nex doesn't take it down maybe coz it's not ripped dunno for sure). I'll definitely be waiting for the port of if not all then as many as possible of the MH3 weapons. MHFrontier for the pc might also be a source for models if someone is capable and interested(Sadly I have no talent for 3d no matter how hard I try so I just gave up and sticked to what I'm better at.) A complete overhaul of Skyrim with the expansion of MH is a great idea. (I'm thinking maybe TES:VI will be a bit like victorian (with matchlock rifles/blunderbuss/pistols) setting or maybe delve further into a setting where people are trying to live in a economy by using monster harvests(much like MH).
