hello people, i'm nearing the end of my plugin amount on skyrim and i'm wondering whether anyone knows if there is something like a bashed patch for sexlab, but one that has already been done as i don't understand how to make them that well or even how to understand if they're compatible or not.

(i think this would be the right forum, sorry if its not)

My understanding is that a "bashed" patch is where the changes to a single item from two different mods are merged into a single "bashed" patch.

What you need is this:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/?

It is used with TESVEdit to merge MODs. Take all those clothing and accessory mods that you have but are no longer being updated and merge them. Take the patch mods that add DLC support to some of your mods and merge them into the main mod.

This is best used on mods that are not actively being updated so you don't have to keep repeating the merge process and it should go without saying that asking for help with a problem in a merged mod is not going to be accepted but it's still a good way to reduce your mod count.

thanks of the link, this will help quite a bit, now that i know about this feature, without me trying and breaking skyrim (i've even broke vanilla skyrim before) , does anyone know if sexlab can be merged or not?

I would look at static mods that lack any scripting and require little or no support for merging (armor, clothing, housing...). Merging one of the most actively updated and heavily scripted mods you can find seems like asking for trouble.

yep i found that out the hard way, but using the link you sent me i managed to get my plugin amount from 255 down to 198 so i have room to work with. thanks again WaxenFigure

I've been playing around with merging mods and unless someone knows a fix, don't merge more than 1 mod with a MCM menu, as you need to rename the translation file to the name of the new esp, if you don't, your get $ symbols in the menu.

I've used it too, I merged a bunch of the hair mods that haven't seen updates or have definitely been dropped (SG's wonderful collection for example) and now have a whole lot fewer mods to deal with.

there is a limit

The length of the load order list has a limit of 255 I suppose.

Bashed patch was created by Wrye Bash, a powerful plugin manager which detects if the mod only modifies vanilla content instead of adding new ones. Simply put, if the mod has only skyrim.esm as master. It can then merge those mods into one mod without conflict and load this patch instead of those. It was a powerful method fighting CTD in Oblivion but in Skyrim I have not seen it very often as most mods have already taken effort to avoid modifying vanilla content to stay compatible.

With that said, maybe you just have to choose some mods to give up.

Btw are good at spotting mods that can be merged

I've used that plugin for TES5Edit, but I've come to think thart it's much "easier" in the long run to do it manually. There are three types of mods in this case: those simple enough that you shouldn't really need the plugin, those that are a pain in the ass, but don't have any compatibility issue with other mods, which are better dealt with the plugin, and those that you gotta be very careful when merging because you might break other mods that work with it.

For example, the plugin for SOS and Radiant Prostitution is just an added keyword to an outfit. You don't need any plugin to do that, it takes 5 secs to fix the issue yourself in TES5Edit. But then, mods like Climates of Tamriel would need you to fix a ton of entries, which makes it rather tedious to do by hand and it seems to give no problems when using the patch. And finally, I tried to do that with Hunterborn and some of its plugins, but then I broke the compatibility with iNeed, so I had to revert to an un-merged version and do the changes manually.

Whenever you want to merge mods, always check in TES5Edit what is there to merge, because it might not be worth the trouble of using the plugin, and you'd be better off by doing it manually.
