Curious Question: Could Scripted Items Be Enchanted?

I was following a Devious Devices topic and someone asked why the wearables (eg. cuffs, etc) aren't enchantable; is this because of the underlying scripts and could cause a mod conflict?   I presume that it would and would like to know myself after reading that.

There's nothing preventing you from enchanting items with scripts on them. The DD items just aren't exactly normal items, the item you see in your inventory for them isn't the same that actually gets equipped on your character. That's to facilitate better and easier interaction with the items as they need to behave differently from normal items. It also means that if you'd enchant the item in your inventory, the enchantment won't ever get applied since the item isn't actually ever equipped. You can however do custom items in creation kit that do have enchantments in them already, you just need to put the enchantment on the "hidden" item that gets equipped.

Thanks Srende!  You are a fountain of information for me today! It just seems reasonable for anyone with enchanting skills to attempt enchanting the items to make up for the lack of armour.
