zzz72w3r Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Help Request: Not sure if this is something doable for a complete noobie like me, with emphasis on complete, I cannot even manage to move the camera on the rendering window the way I wanted. Here it goes: I use MHYH to bring in many followers into my house so I can switch party anytime I like but I don't want to deal with a grand mansion or castle with all those rooms and door loadings. How do I expand the cell beyond the small house mod (using existing Skyrim map) so these guests can move in and out, do stuff outdoors and not all stuck inside at the same time? Next step is that I want to add some kind of fence for the new areas and maybe add stuff connected to my house for NPC to do while they are out. Alternatively, if it is easier: Fence off an existing Skyrim area near my house mod as a new home for MHYH so they don't wonder off and disappear. Not as lively as sharing the same cell as my house but if it is easier. Next step is to put some very simple stuff on the land for them to do like a single hot spring pool or camp fire so they don't look like zombies.
JRCosta Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I use that MOD too. After you tell them "This place is your new home", talk to them again and you have new dialogue option to assign a couple of tasks ( work, guard or sleep in this area).
zzz72w3r Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 "This area" only covers the house from the mod as far as MHYH is concerned. I want to use a small house mod and expand the 'area' using CK to surrounding landscapes.
Advint Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I don't have an answer to your specific question however, I hope you know that sometimes to purpose of those grand mansions is to divide up the work load on the cpu and gpu by having only specific areas loaded at one time. I don't remember specifically what it is called but it basically zones out the internal areas so only so much is loaded at once based on where the player is looking. However to clarify on your question, you want to expand an interior cell, or expand the exterior of a house within a given cell? (Cell being a loaded area) I do understand that you want a small house, just not sure if your talking interior or exterior.Oh and Middle mouse button works wonders for the camera.Reading into it a bit more I'm thinking that the mod your using to set home for a companion uses a script to do so. So you'll have to find out what the command for it is, its not as simple as setting up a bounding box. You'll most likely be able to look it up under the dialogue used for setting the home. Without the mod in front of me that is about all I can say. And I'm no expert myself.
zzz72w3r Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 I am sure I am not using the terminology correctly or knowing how Skyrim and CK work. How does Skyrim define NPC's 'home' in the sense of MHYH? The description of the MHYH said it uses a ledger to keep track of NPC's new home location based on CK location ID at the point of PC when I assign them to NPC. I figured the ID is something that can be defined rather than created. So it must be a loaded area? All I want is for NPC to expand their 'sandbox' (am I using it right?) to areas beyond the house mod to neighboring outdoor areas after I dismiss them. Like how children play outdoors but with bigger territory. This is sounding like I am over my head.
Advint Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Ah, I think I get it, you want to not only set their home to yours using the Cells Location ID, much like Bathing Beauties of Skyrim? Now, I don't know what MHYH is, but I am almost positive it is using a script to do so. In which case you need to edit the script for setting the home ID to the one you want to use. It's possible it uses the Editor ID for reference. As for allowing them to roam outside, I cannot give you any leads on how to do that. But you mentioned you wanted to put in things for them to do around your home. That's pretty simple, you use idle points and set time limits for how long they use them, I haven't open CK in some time but search Idle and a lot of them should show up. I don't know if you looked through the tutorials but you can also link these if you want, or leave them open ended. And here is the keyboard mapping for CK, it helps to have it on reference when starting out.Oh and everything in CK sounds like its over your head to begin with, it really isn't so hard once you get the basic knowledge. If someone doesn't come along with better info for you ill go find this MHYH and have a looksie to at least give you a better idea.
zzz72w3r Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Underground Bathhouse and Paradise Valley is actually one of the house mods I considered using because the main areas are pretty clean but it has so many levels and rooms that it will be just too big a chore to find a particular follower NPC I let loose it there. It sounds like extending area of activity for follower NPC involves scripting, which is something I don't want to touch. What I want is this: 1. Use one of the many really well done small house mods already in existence, where the modders not only pay attention to details of the house but also the locale. 2. Move all the followers I recruited to that house using My Home is Your Home and dismiss them so all my parties are together like how Bioware does it. Obviously the house won't fit so I want the NPC to behave like the house is just one room in a bigger invisible box that I drew around existing landscape. I have looked at just about every well known house mod on Nexusmod and not a single one offers: A. a small compact working area with all the latest facilities B. a very large, very clean atmospheric hall where I can see all my followers moving about on my way to the working area at one glance. Well done houses with small compact working areas tend to be very intimate, in a good way, and the well done big houses are always labyrinth like. I guess they have to in order to reduce CPU/GPU load because they overloaded the grand rooms with really nice visuals. They are nice to visit but tedious to live. I know how hard it is to get a house right because it's not just about putting together boxes and I don't have the time to do it. This is why I thought maybe I can use the outdoor areas. Well, there goes that idea.
