Lein Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I recently started mucking around in skyrim again, and noticed quite a few of my followers had mismatched colors between their faces and bodies. I thought maybe my bsa files I had made for the custom npcs had gotten lost, deleted or corrupted somehow. After messing around with it most of the afternoon, I have found that the only way I could get it to load the CK's exported facegen info was to change it from a plugin to a master. I know these files were working before as plugins, and have seen other NPCs on the nexus that are plugins. Why are my textures only loading if I set the file as a master now? to be clear, these are all files that worked before. Recently I started playing again and the old dark face bug was back on some npcs. I loaded the offending npcs into the CK, selected them in the actors and ctrl f4'd all of them. I verified the files were being written in the proper places for each plugin. Started up skyrim and the faces were still off color. went back into the CK, changed one of them blue just to check. Exported the facegen data. Verified the face dds was blue by opening it up with gimp. Went back to skyrim, blue body, face unchanged. converted the blue npc's esp to a master, exported the facegen from the ck into the newly created master's directory and the blue face texture loaded just fine. What am I missing? why are the textures only loading if the file is a master, I thought they had fixed it, if so, what setting did I mess up? lol

When this happens the face changes from the settings. Happens quite often in FNV. Making a master for Face and some other data solves this problem. Reason for some mods to be released with a Master and regular esps (other than those that offer options) Of course I could be completely wrong... lol.
Lein Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 so, I downloaded the CM Beautiful companions mod which uses an esp file for all the followers in it. I began using the player.placeatme to place copies of the npcs in that mod around me while in the cell and they all looked fine. no color mismatches. I am confused. Even in his description for the mod he says that version 1.5 of skyrim corrected the face tint bug, esm's are no longer necessary.
RitualClarity Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 That might be the case. I haven't modded Skyrim. I am speaking from experience from old game (skyrim apparently) and FNV/F03 etc. Yet when you make it a master it works.. strange. I can't help much more... . However I am sure that who ever can help you will need to know where this is happening. Which cell etc. There might be something with that. Or you did indeed mess something up in CK. Also something someone with more experience than me will have to help with. I was hoping it was a simple flag issue that could be fixed. (done that in the past.. )
Lein Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 First, I just want to say thank you, RitualClarity, for your time and help. Really, sincerely, thank you. I'm not sure entirely what happened to my CK apparently, why the esps stopped working, but I have them working again. I deleted my CK files and redownloaded it through steam, reinstalling it. Loaded the esp's into the newly installed CK, exported the facegen files, and saved the esp again. The troublesome NPCs seem to be ok now. Havent gone through all of them, but the ones that I have checked are matching again.
RitualClarity Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Every once in a while I am able to help someone... ... I wouldn't have thought that CK was the problem... weird.
