Unp/unpb/bbp/hdt, Some Advice/recommendations Please.

Hello all.

Since I'm redoing my entire install for a bit of a cleanup, I thought I'd try the UNP body, where I've normally used CBBE in the past.

Now, CBBE certainly seemed more straightforward, and I'm not entirely sure where to start with UNP.

For a start, CBBE had 1 definitive version, and UNP has about 5 that I've found. There's stock UNP, UNPB Blessed, more versions of both stock and Blessed by Mr Troublemaker, then another T/BBP version by Turbosundance, and even after reading all the install guides and comments for each one, I'm still not entirely sure which one I should be using. Mr Troublemaker's versions certainly seem to be the simplest, coming with both skeletons and T/BBP physics straight out of the gate.

What I'm really after is compatibility, don't really want to install everything and find out I can use sod all. I'm not planning on using giant breasts, aiming to go with the smaller end of the scale; so whether UNP/UNPB isn't too big a deal, they both seem to start at the same size. I still want T/BBP though, static boobs just looks strange to me now (despite my static hair mods!).

HDT seems like it could be fun, and I've read through all the FAQ topics in that forum, nothing I can't handle. Again though, I'm not sure if this would just limit me in terms of other mods, specifically clothing.

I was also looking at character editors, but my concern there is that the sliders will only apply to nude models, and would make some clothing, particularly tight or skimpy clothing, look strange. Y'know, when the chest shrinks or expands when clothing is added.

One of my main reasons for moving from CBBE is that clothing designed for it tends to default at pretty 'robust' sizes; a slimmer character ends up gaining a fat arse and a huge chest when equipping a lot of the gear made for it.

What I'm really after are some recommendation for the UNP body. What are the best options in terms of compatibility with the majority of its clothing mods, and will T/BBP make a difference? I'm not greatly bothered about some outfits being static, as long as jiggle works when naked. Is it worth my while to go with HDT, or will it just limit my clothing options?

Also, just for clarification, 'MTM' just stands for Mr Troublemaker, right?

Thanks for any help or recommendations anyone can provide.

I use UNP skinny myself but I have had a number of people recommend that I try Top Model which uses the UNP skinny body and when you change the weight it only changes breast size and it is suppose to be TBBP compatible and work with all the UNP clothes. Least that is what I keep being told.

I will say UNP skinny seems to work with all the clothes even those made for UNP normal so UNP family seems pretty compatible with each other in my experience.

If you're going for the lower end of the weight spectrum Top Model is a good choice. And it's TBBP ready right out of the gate. So all you need to do is add the body, then the XPMS skeleton, then add TBBP animations (and there are tons to choose from). That's it. It's just that simple. Just never allow anything to overwrite your skeleton's files.

Base UNP, if it's T/BBP compatible, is also a nice choice for a realistic body (unlike the CBBE inflatable bodies ). And keep in mind that there are more T/BBP clothing options available for 7Base and UNPB than any other. Hardly any for base UNP and not a whole lot more for TopModel for that matter.

The truth is that any UNP variant clothing will work on any UNP variant (Skinny, UNPetite, base, UNPB, UNPBP, UNPC, UNPCM, and the Seven Base varieties). Just be warned that the body will morph to fit whatever clothing you put on. Your textures, assuming they're UNP textures, will still be fine even after the morph, though.

Ok, thank you for the replies, very much appreciated.

Would I be right in saying that there is no real difference between individual versions of UNP/B? I can just go ahead and use Mr Troublemaker's UNPB since it comes with all the skeleton and physics mods and it won't prevent me from using anything down the line?

all the unp variations use the same uv mapping, that is the essential difference between the cbbe body types and unp.

uv mapping is the way textures are fit to the body meshes, which means,

if you're willing to set your npc/player weight to 100 or 0, that you will be able to use all

of the unp variants in some way, shape or form.

the body textures you choose for unp will fit on unp, unpb, unpc, top model, dream girl and sevenbase.

in my skyrim i use them all in various outfits, you just have to accept that outfits cannot be 'mashed up' across the various body formats,

but outfits made for one form will mash just fine.

for instance, the 'naked' mesh i use is sevenbase bombshell, but i use outfits from all the other variations and its possible to do so with a single set of textures.

point is, don't think that you are limited to only one setup ;)

Thanks for all the help guys.

Ok, another questions, and that's the difference between BBP, TBBP and HDT, or rather, how compatable they are with each other.

If I go with say, a TBBP body, does that preclude me from using BBP? I already know that TBBP didn't work with my CBBE BBP body previously, but does TBBP have 'backwards compatability' with BBP stuff?

And how does HDT fit into this? Is it just completely separate and require me to use only HDT stuff, or would it work independently of the other two?

TBBP and BBP aren't totally compatible. HDT is something else altogether (not animations but actually physics), although it requires a TBBP body, skeleton and animations for it to work. So, basically, you just set up a TBBP body that works then you can add HDT to it.

So go for TBBP. There are lots of options for that in the UNP family.

Good tips, dude.

What's the difference in support for T/BBP like on UNP?

I'm not greatly worried about a jiggle in the ass, so is TBBP worth it over BBP if they can't swap clothes? Or does TBBP have a comparable wardrobe?

Been scanning websites to check. Nexus doesn't seem to show a lot of entries for Top Model or 7B, although several Japanese websites I know of seem to stop them, nowhere near as well as UNP though. One thing I'm worried about is the same reason I dropped CBBE; a thinner than stock nude body results in a weight gain when wearing some clothes. Not too big a deal when covered, and extra weight can be attributed simply to the clothing, but on skimpy outfits you see the thighs simply widen.

Part of me thinks it would simpler just to go with stock UNP/B. Just to clarify then...

UNP is normal.

UNPB is exactly the same as UNP for all parts of body except breasts, which start the same as UNP but get bigger with more weight.

Top Model is always UNP's weight 0, except for the breasts which are the only part that changes.

Sevenbase is CBBE style proportions, simply compatible with UNP meshes.

I couldn't find UNP Skinny, although I vaguely remember seeing an option on UNP or UNPB for that. How does that differ?

I like Top Model, I like the thin hips with a slightly larger bust size, I'm just worried that the majority of outfits, which won't be Top Model specific, will result in much wider hips since the weight slider would be around the 50% mark.

I use the Top Model body. With it at 0 weight I can put on a skimpy UNP armor replacer armor set and the only change I see is a slight thickening of the midsection and thighs. And if I wasn't looking at it while I put the armor on I would probably have a hard time noticing it.

Here's an example of it. I believe the weight was set at 10 or 20 percent in this pic.

I thought Top Model was the same as as UNP, with only the breasts being affected by the slider? So shouldn't UNP and Top Model be the same at weight 0?

They're really close. Base UNP is just slightly thicker is all.

Top model basically has the same body weight as UNP Skinny which is slightly lower than Base UNP at 0%. The weight slider has no effect on the body only boobs and they seem to slide in size from UNP skinny 30-50% range at the smallest 0% weight on top model up to the maximum boob size of UNP base at 100% weight.

How does the breast size compare to UNPB/7B at any given weight? Most clothing seems to be for these two, and I'd like to avoid the PC's chest shrinking or growing noticeably when certain clothing is worn.

I have never used either of those but from looking at the pictures it looks like the low end of UNPB is equal to the top end of UNP main or Top model. But I am just guessing based on the pictures.

Top Model's boobs are as big as UNPB's are. Probably as big as Seven Base at max weight actually (not Bombshell big, though.).

I have 4 profiles running in Mod Organizer right now. Two are TM, one is UNP and the other is 7B Bombshell. So I can do a comparison really easily. :D
