Summary

 

So we've seen the beautiful girls and how to make them thread, but how about the guys? I've personally made my own set of male characters in the past that have since been deleted as I was never satisfied by the results of them as with the female counterparts. I see there's some awesome male character creations out there from various individuals, and the spectrum ranges from badass, rugged, heroic, young, old, experienced, and so on.

 

Since I've had a block for the longest time for making a unique, appealing, or simply badass male character, this thread seemed like a good idea to create in order to share creations of male characters, what was used to make them, or how we can adjust our own characters.

 

A large portion of this idea stimmed from the female thread, and Tea_Sheriffs post about there being a thread for male characters.

 

 

How To

 

This thread is 100% to be used for sharing male character creations and how they were created. This can be listed through whether Enhanced Character Edit was used, Race Menu, or Chargen Extension. It would greatly help as to what textures were used as they can have a large impact on how a character looks (along with ENB). So I ask for each creation posted, to add information about what was used to make the character, as if we only posted images it would basically be like the "Show your Skyrim counterpart" thread, which mainly serves for that purpose and would make this thread redundant.

 

If you use any custom scars, burns, tattoos or eye modifications it would be nice to also know where the resources came from for enhanced custom looks.

Tough crowd.

 

Crafted a character with Race Menu 2.7 only (latest update includes all Chargen updates, so Chargen alone is no longer needed).

 

Used the Urshi Skin Textures, actually rather curious to experiment with differences using other textures, will likely try that today.

 

I've stopped using Ningheim race for now since I've been itching to go back to the default races, plus it may end up being easier to work with.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A set of comparisons between different male face textures.

 

1. MacKom's Real Skin for Men  - Skin is slightly darker, gives a more rugged and older look.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Young Male Face Texture - Does what it says indeed. Actually liked this one, it comes with stubble/without, with moles/without optionals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. DCE Realistic Male Face - Not bad, used the rugged texture here, very detailed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. MFO (Male Face Overhaul) - Favorite out of the bunch, and the author is working on crushing neck seams by completely redoing male normals and body textures. A hidden gem worth checking.

Well it's up to individual preference, but if you want your men to actually look like men, like so, a quick 5 minute Imperial male:

 

 

 

 

 

just use skulltyrant's male skeleton, xp32's skeleton gives males feminine hips for some reason. I've pointed this out but nothing's happened in several versions so maybe that's intentional.

Sundracon's body meshes and textures from Better Males - close to vanilla and still masculine. FavoredSoul is a little more Chippendale-y.

Smooth Faces for face textures - has a Sundracon compatible version. Smoothes out Bethesda's bugged textures among other things.

 

I'm not sure what Fine Face is trying to achieve, but it's not men in the cold north.

 

Other stuff used: ENB - Unbleak, ELFX, RaceMenu 2.0 or 2.5, XCE's hires scars.

EDIT: oh yeah, sweaty body texture from Fair Skin - made for females but works fine for either sex.

Don't forget the hair! ApachiiSkyHair seems to be the only male hair mod...sadly I only like 2 or 3 of the hairstyles in the entire collection :/

I can't seem to make male chars look right at all(The way I want anyway. It's probably because the hairstyle I want, does not exist.) It annoys the bajeebus out of me.
