CTD when starting new game or load game

Continuation of a nexus thread I made....I tried to reinstall vanilla but I have so many mods that adding them all again is really time consuming.

 

I use SKSEtolaunch the game and it works so far. It CTDs when I load an old save or start a new save, and it crashes on the second "tip".  and yes  have tried everything I could think of including cleaning,BOSS with tweaking to order, etc.

You reinstalled and didn't delete the folder at documents/my games/Skyrim? Must not have since you still have the game saves. That folder holds a bunch of garbage that comes over into any new install. And old saves will have required mods/files that you may not have reinstalled yet.

This is the back up of the old data, documents, and saves. I did reinstall vanilla again but after a whole day of reinstalling I really didn't want to spent the entire week setting my game back up again.

 

I just wanted to ask anyone if they might know what might be wrong and save the trouble of spending the entire week redownloading and messing with mods again

I'd personally never try to save and old gamesave. It's just too much of a PITA. Now you've probably got your Skyrim folder borked so switching to Mod Organizer would be extra work. More people need to learn about that thing so they can install it on their next fresh installation. Then they'd never need to reinstall again and not have problems like you're now having.

 

MO shows you what mods are missing when you want to load up a save. And 1000 other cool and helpful things it does. Why more people aren't using it instead of NMM and/or manual installs is confusing to me.

 

Sorry I can't be more help. It really sounds like you're missing files is all. That's the general cause of crashes in this situation. Can you start an all new game without issue?

Nope it crashs a little after the second tip on the Alduin loading screen whenever it try a new save, I've tried making a new save, disable everything except the DLCs and unofficial patches and it still didn't work

Just delete the folder at documents/my games/Skyrim. The whole Skyrim folder, or move it somewhere else and keep it. Then launch Skyrim with the vanilla launcher once so it makes a new folder and generates new .ini files. Then see if it can launch with SKSE. If so then move just the newest save file from your other folder into the new Skyrim folder in documents and try it.

I did what you suggested but still no good. I don't think its a save problem cause I have 7+ characters, some vanilla, and none of them work. Documents are fine. I Think the problem maybe something in the Data file but BOSS and TES5Edit, can't detect anything

Anyone have suggestions? or any means on how to detect the problem other than BOSS and tes5edit?
