Clothing/jewelry as armor, and alternatives to Arousing Attrire?

Recommended Posts

1) Call me old school, but mages don't wear armor. Here they do. I'm not seeing any real alternative to wearing armor. I can down load cool armors from nexus, but a gal just out of prison wouldn't have access to such things.

I want my mage babe to be all sessy....but its not really possible unless I reach high levels and enchant my own.

Bracers of Armor exist in DnD games, but nowhere in Skyrim.

Do I have to down load cheats and enchant them myself?

I'm not finding items of armor in Nexus, but that place is huge. Are there vanilla items in the game?

Help me out.

2) Also: is there an alternative to Alluring Attire and Armor? I love the novice robes and a few things, but its getting old. I have Bella's Better Females-but that's just the face.

~ I'm planning a switch to UNP or UNPB, so these mods will be right out.

Is there any other way to toss a bit of NPC cleavage into the game?

3) and one final thing, is there a Dummy's Guide to Textures? I'm really at a loss when y'all talk shop with big words like that.

Check out LSAR on Nexus. It's as revealing or conservative as you like since you pick options during installation. It replaces all vanilla clothing and armor (if you pick those options) in one foul swoop.

In TES lore some mages do wear armor, namely the Battlemage and Sorcerer classes (sorcerers had heavy armor as a major skill in older games). Something to keep in mind. In Oblivion I loved the Sorcerer class as a Breton (extra Magicka). With Daedric or Madness Ore armors and some creative spell crafting you could be a walking tank.

Which textures are you talking about? Body/face textures or world/environment?

Textures: I have NO idea what I am talking about. All I know is they are supposed to make a female character look much more real.

LSAR? OK something to research. Be right back.

Textures, huh? What do you want to know?

There are quite a few available. Each has it's own kind of look. Some are ultra-realistic (with pores, hairs and moles/freckles), some are silky smooth, some show musculature, some are porcelain looking and so on. Many have options as well, like resolution options, pubic hair options, sweaty/wet/oily options, etc.

There is this mod for skimpifying clothing (it's a replacer and UNP). http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/47376/?

LSAR stands for A Little Sexy Armor Replacer. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5564/? I use it to replace clothing and another mod to replace all the vanilla armors. That way just two mods do a LOT.

On a side note, Nexus is running really slowly tonight.

What armor mod would that be?

Right now I'm working with a Perils of Pauline concept with a Breton Mage: Blond Buxom and pale skin with a blond both above and below.

and then I looking at a tanned brown haired barbarian swordsbabe who winds up nekid a lot. Thats an allover tan skin texture. (too many 80's barbarian movies)

does that help?

I'd go for something like Fairskin on the mage. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51602/?

Maybe Milkdrinker (medium muscles) or Barbarian skin (more muscles) for the barbarian? The options are in the file.

Keep in mind that I am linking UNP variant textures so you need to be using UNP/UNPB/SevenBase/UNPC/UNP-whatever for these to work. CBBE based bodies require a different texture set or it will look WIERD.

If you don't want to wear armor, and plan on using the mage armor "flesh" spells/perks you might be interested in these:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22895/? -> alternate effect colors, basically lets you pick something else if you get tired of having a weird blue glow on your character when using a flesh spell.

The no visual effect esp is nice if you use clothes that have parts alpha'ed out, as regular old effect colors will advertise the edges that aren't supposed to be there.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14013/? -> tweaks alteration & restoration a bit, particularly in how long flesh spells last for (2 mins instead of vanilla 60 secs base), and removes head part checking from the mage armor perks (handy if you end up wearing a priest mask). This mod does edit some perks so watch out for compatibility. You may need to tes5edit a patch or merge a mod with this one.

General magey goodness mods:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6422/?  -> Adds some enchantments to the game that increase magnitude (power) of schools of magic. Really helps make pure mage builds more viable end game with all the monster related mods floating around. The way the enchantments were added isn't so great (iirc think they are just items in a box somewhere you can disenchant), but that isn't hard to change with a tiny bit of ck work.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/47356/? -> Combat Caster, helps with combat magicka regen issues.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16225/? -> Apocalypse Spell Pack.  Adds another 140 spells to play with.
