Jormungandr Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Alrighty, so i found out that dimes quickstart causes severe errors in the HelgenRandomSoundScript.psc which ultimately leads to the well known exterior random CTD crapstorm. Occurs after 1 minute of playing or after 10 hours, doesn't matter - random is random, unfortunately that doesn't makes it less a pain in the ass. My question is, would cleaning the mod with TESEDIT prevent these script errors? (I have no clue about TESEDIT, as i've never needed it before btw) Or should i uninstall the mod entirely and make new savegames (with that damn helgen intro)?
dTd Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I always make a save right where Hadvaar is about to say "Who are you?" with no mods or DLC activated. This way it's clean, no scripts and always loads great. That's on PC of course, not sure if you can do that with other platforms.

You can get this error with a completely vanilla game, with OXYCLEAN loud fuck off shiny clean masters... as I just found out about 5 days ago. You can try going through the Helgen dungeon again to pick up where the sound is supposed to play and hopefully get it to refire and fix itself (unlikely), or restart. If you aren't playing a vanilla start game, stay way the fuck away from Helgen, If you are playing a vanilla start.... you'll be seeing the error in your log by the time you reach Riverwood anyway, and it won't be much of a loss to restart, or reload an earlier save.
Vancien Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 It's always a good protocol to clean anything that BOSS recommends. I wouldn't just go cleaning something in TES5Edit unless BOSS specified it was dirty and un-intended. I am not the most seasoned person with this process but I am fairly experienced with it. I'd be happy to assist you with cleaning if you can't find the resource guides around BOSS / TES5Edit understandable. It seems far more complex first going into it than it is. It's more a consumption of time than anything but well worth it to have a better running game. PM me if you'd like any assistance and I will do whatever I can to help you. If you are going to go cleaning items, I would highly suggest a thorough cleaning of everything BOSS says rather than just this problematic mod culprit. You may as well so other issues are less likely.

No this isn't locational, i can dance around in riverwood like a pink pony without anything happen. It occurs totally random, just like when random sounds (bird chirping i.e.) is getting played. Infact i'm running around on solstheim at the moment. So no riverwood. I'm thinking of just balling the mod and make new saves. It's always a good protocol to clean anything that BOSS recommends. Like i said above i guess i'll just go with disabling the mod and new saves + watching my logs.
