gooser Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I just noticed the top of this file: http://www.creationkit.com/ToUpper_-_StringUtil ToUpper - StringUtil SKSE Member of: StringUtil Script This function is not present in SKSE anymore. Returns the given string as uppercase. (This function requires SKSE) I just checked my SKSE 1.7 source StringUtil.psc and indeed they are gone. Dafuq? Where are these functions now?
Earen Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 These methods are still presented in c++ code but they are no more exported into skyrim for some reason. The one reason i see is that these methods will change all occurrences of some particular string.
gooser Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 So Papyrus "interns" strings? There's no copy-on-write at all?
gooser Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I was thinking of writing my own routines using StringUtil's AsOrd, and AsChar... Do you think it will work?
Earen Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I was thinking of writing my own routines using StringUtil's AsOrd, and AsChar... Do you think it will work? Dunno.. Skyrim ignores my strings and replaces them with similar (using case insensitive comparison) So Papyrus "interns" strings? There's no copy-on-write at all? do not understand you. but skse just replaces cached string chars with lower/upper chars
gooser Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I've been thinking of just writing a SKSE plugin for doing these kinds of text manipulations... String support is very anemic in Papyrus as it is.
Earen Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 you will have to modify skyrim string cache to make it case sensitive somehow then
gooser Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I think ... I will just rename those keys for now.
