Pink/Purple Hands Ingame but not in GECK?

So basically I downloaded the XIII Lightning Race Mod from VGUnetwork here.

http://www.vgunetwork.com/files/file/1022-final-fantasy-xiii-lightning-race/

And I had switched the texture paths of the body and hands to the ones provided in the texture directory since they weren't pathed to them orignally (they used vanilla or installed female textures).

So all was dandy when I made the changes in GECK, and did previews and the character had perfectly textured body, but Ingame the new body textures work fine but the hands are purple?

I know the texture paths are correct, and in GECK they show up. I'm using Mod Organizer so I know that Archive Invalidation is working fine. Leaving the original texture path for the hands fix them but they have extreme discoloration from the rest of the body.

Did you change the path inside the custom race or inside the nif asset?

I had a similar issue with a custom race, I solved extracting all the separate assets (hands, tongue, everything) for the body and pathing them manually by nifskope. This simply didn't make sense for me, other custom races don't do that and they work well. If you find a solution I'm very curious to know it.

Well the race mod only has textures, it uses whatever body you have installed, but I can try and copy those files to new directory change the nif settings and work from there.

This was what I had to do. Only the body was working, while hands and tongue (and maybe teets) were purple and I had to extract them and put in the same directory. I'm quite sure a drastic solution like that should solve for you too, but really it doesn't make any sense in my opinion

By same directory you mean like this?

for the body

meshes\customracefiles\bodyfiles.nif

textures\customracefiles\bodyfiles.dds

well yes and no. I explained bad.

Think to a custom race that only changes the body. On GECK you can find some paths like this:

body : custom\custombody

hand: vanilla\vanillahand

tongue: vanilla\vanillatongue

etc.etc.

What I had to do was exctracting all the vanilla assets, putting them inside my custom directory and then modify the paths on GECK so that they were pointing all inside the custom directory, like this:

body : custom\custombody

hand: custom\vanillahand

tongue: custom\vanillatongue

This doesn't make sense to me. If I open a custom race mod (like Mojave Delight for example), they always have paths like the ones above, mixing vanilla and custom, so I really don't know why my custom races never work like that.

MUAHAHA I"VE FIXED IT.

Kind of to what you said after thinking about what you said it suddenly hit me!

I looked at the type3 feel real skin mod that I had installed for my vanilla females. And noticed the texture structure.

when I routed the file to look for lightinghand.dds the "missing file" that was causing the purple hands was actually lightinghand_1st.dds that was causing the issues. So I simply copied lightinghand.dds and renamed that copy to the missing files and VIOLA fixed hand tone and texture.

Some pictures :D I've my nice custom race now.

I've learned so much today. My knowledge of textures have grown! MUAHAHA

Excuse the neck-seam, the head mesh is fitted for Type6 body and I have a type 3 body installed. Usually there is no seam.
