Spectre_15 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Being one of the most well known game franchises in video gaming history, what do you guys think about the Pokemon franchise? I've been obsessed with Pokemon for years, and part of my inactivity on these forums over the last few weeks has been because I've been literally trying to catch them all in my Pokemon Y game (678/718, 94.4% there!) What do you guys think of the franchise? Does anyone play?
canderes Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 The last time I played I had silver on the game boy color. My nephew is the one who plays all those games now. I only completed all the catches in red/yellow version. I tried to play White 2 but it just seems so boring compared to the old games, it doesn't seem like it has changed much, I just don't know why the appeal is gone. Every once in while I'll take my nephew and niece to the comic shop-my niece always gets the nintendo plushes, nephew always gets yugioh, or pokemon cards. When he gets pokemon cards I'll buy a pack just to see what comes out (I have a huge stack behind my monitor). When I was a kid I did take an interest in the card game then people came up with game breaking decks and I had to hide my power level lol. I liked the team rocket/dark cards the most.
Jexsam Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I need to play mine more. I got most of the way through X and Y both but still haven't beaten Pokemon League in either one. I just don't have the stamina for the endgame that I used to. :\ This reminds me I need to get in on that Pokemon Bank thing and mass transfer my collection in.

The fifth generation of games, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2, were the worst games of the franchise, in my opinion. I think X and Y are probably the most fun games of the franchise so far, and where BWB2W2 were extremely story driven and linear, X and Y are a lot like the original games, making catching and playing priority and story takes a back seat.
Reine Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I thought the original Black/White wasn't too bad, outside of the whole "postgame" aspect of it. Want to get X/Y eventually, but currently lack a 3DS to play it. Gold/Silver/Crystal is probably my favorite gen of all, with HG/SS being a good rebirth of it(wish they kept the whole pokemon following you aspect in the current games..)
Spectre_15 Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I feel like GSC get too much credit, but its just the kind of gamer I am. I don't like when games are too easy, and GSC had almost no level curve. Yes, X and Y are easy as hell too, but by turning off the Exp Share, its a lot harder than GSC was.
