Terriblypleased Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just going through some of the mods and many of them strongly suggest using NMM to install them. However after doing some searches and looking for help files I haven't found anything on how to use NMM with mods that aren't supported with the "download with NMM" button. I could just totally be blind and be missing something obvious here but any help/suggestions would be nice, ta!
gvman3670 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 On the mods tab of NMM you'll see a green "button" on the left hand side that looks like a piece of a puzzle. Click that and choose "install mod from file" and you can then install mods you've installed manually or from other sites beside Nexus. The real problem I see here is you're using NMM. I quit using it and will never use that (or do manual installs) ever again after switching to Mod Organizer. NMM has left gaping, game-breaking holes in my game before causing me to need a full delete and reinstall of my game. Using MO will avoid that from ever happening again. And Mod Organize will also download and install mods from Nexus with the "download with manager" button, just like NMM does. You might want to take a look into making the switch yourself. NMM is badly broken and constantly in a state of flux.
Terriblypleased Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks! I certainly will look into that. I think I need to clean up my Skyrim and start from scratch anyway, tooooo many mods ><
gvman3670 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks! I certainly will look into that. I think I need to clean up my Skyrim and start from scratch anyway, tooooo many mods >< The really, really, really good news is....if you actually do a clean reinstall and start from scratch you can switch to using Mod Organize and NEVER, EVER have to reinstall again. How's that? Easy. Mod Organizer doesn't actually add the mods to your Skyrim folder, so it keeps it fresh, clean and new. Totally unmolested. It runs the mods in a virtul directory outside the game, so not only does it keep your Skyrim install clean it also allows cool things like simply moving the order of the mods to change which are showing in game (in case of overwrites (or over"reads" in this case)). Or allowing you to have more than one profile with each profile using different mods. And other cool features as well.
Terriblypleased Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for the tips though it seems multiple mods including FNIS and apachii hair. The easiest solution seems to use a combination of NMM and MO :\
gvman3670 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for the tips though it seems multiple mods including FNIS and apachii hair. The easiest solution seems to use a combination of NMM and MO :\ Apachii hair installs normally with MO. I did install FNIS manually then set the generator to run as an executable inside MO. That makes it work fine. MO will install Bain installer just like NMM does. It can also be used to download mods from Nexus, just like NMM does. It does everything you can do with NMM. Then some.
