Return to Fallout 4 -> can I update the game to latest version or should stay on old gen v1.10.163?

When the Next Gen Updated came I stayed on the Old Gen Version 1.10.163 because many mods didn't work with the new game Version.
now almost 2 years later I wanted to play again and start a new campaign

 

so my question is should I stay on Old Gen or can I update to latest game version?

Or is there somewhere a list of the mods who work with  the latest game version?

So that I can find out if the mods I definetly want to use have been update for new Gen?

I'd suggest .163. Definetly not the latest version, there's still some stuff to update as well as the issue with tons of CC content you may or may not want.

so none did updates for AFF and other mods e.g. RSEII or SexAttributes for the later game versions?

They do not contain .dll files. You might need Backported BA2 Support.

1.10.163. Use downgrader and keep AE content.

Downgrader?  does that mean I should upgrade to mods to the latest version and use these downgrader so that mods work with V 1.10.163 again?

By the way whats AE content?

No, it means that the old DLL-dependent mods will no longer work with the FOA4 update. To use them, you must downgrade the game to the previous version, or wait days/months for the various DLL-dependent mods to be updated to the new version, and not all of them will be updated.

AE=Anniversary Edition. I'll give you my example - I had updated game. V1.11.137. I used this for rolling back to 1.10.163 (Old-Gen) version. Quite simple method and most important thing - I still have Anniversary edition "content" in my 1.10.163 game (missions, some new stuff etc)

Best method (in my opinion)

 

1) Make a TXT of the current Load order, ignoring any error warnings . It's just to know what's currently installed

2) Uninstall all

3) reinstall game

4) Before any operation, downgrade game

5) Block updates

6) Modding

if u want the new CC content u cna still get it by upfating to latest version and then "downgraing" .

But its not worth the hassle.

 

I would recommend to lock your game down so it doesnt update and stay on .163.
