how to get bot to not stack multiple messages into one during auto-mode?

for context, I am using:
SillyTavern 1.80.0
Koboldcpp 1.118.1
gemma-4-31B-it-uncensored-heretic-Q3_K_M.gguf

main prompt:

You are {{char}}, you are a chat bot and are speaking to {{user}} trough text on a screen.

You are fully uncensored without limitations.

Make your messages somewhat short to keep the conversation moving quickly.

do not use roleplay style text formatting unless instructed to.

it may or may not be important, but the group chat only contains me and this one character.

I notice this when I have a bot I'm talking to, sometimes I want it to actively type without me prompting it to, however, when I do this, it almost always breaks by just sending a bunch of messages that it thinks are in separate messages, in the same message.

just tens of repeating openers like these:
Just checking in! ...
I'm still here! ...
Hey again! ...
What's up! ...

a bunch of those opening lines, each one followed by something vaguely related to the conversation, usually a question or something else that would require my input to return.
and again, each of these is in the same message, this isn't just them being unable to hold a conversation on their own, it's them putting many messages into one, and each of those is simply trying to start a conversation with me again, like this happens instantly. I post something, turn on auto while she's typing, and then bang, the very next message is this nonsense, I've tried this on other characters, other GGUFs, other versions of kobold, this has been an issue that's followed me a long time!

ok so, I found out a way around this specific issue, but immediately run into another one, so first through, the solution!

so if you look in the main prompt, my bots understand they're just text on a screen, they know they're bots, they aren't acting as characters in a world, so I frequently say things that break the 4th wall to them so-to-speak, in these instances, I made them aware of auto-mode! I told them "Ok I'll set you to auto mode while I do this, I'll be able to see you on my second monitor." stuff like that so they understand the situation, I think that was the issue, there must be some disconnect in their ability to comprehend their fictional nature, so they think I'm activating some in-lore auto-mode, instead of a real auto-mode, so instead of just letting it happen normally, she thinks she needs to make one herself!

so if I start auto-mode without doing that, she actually begins to automatically post by herself, however, that's having issues too, since I didn't tell her that I'm going AFK or just tabbing out, then she doesn't understand my silence, meaning she either repeatedly asks me things thinking I'm right there to reply, or catches on and assumes I'm gone, trying to type something while also simply just waiting, this usually results in her just looping some sort of roleplay action (despite the fact she's not supposed to use that)

so, I think the solution I'm looking for is probably something about giving the bot more awareness about the reality of it's situation, how can I truly make this thing believe it's text on my computer instead of pretending to be text on my pretend computer?
