Vancien Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Hey guys and gals! So, I have already posted on Nexus under SkyUI with my issue. And I have read the error code page and fixes given there. One person responded with a fix for my issue but it was not a viable resolution. I thought perhaps one of you here have had this issue and could help me resolve it as well. Error Code: 6 Menu File version mismatch for quest_journal.swf Required version 4.1 Detected version 3.1 Now the fix suggested on their database is to go into the interface folder and delete any loose files. The only files in there are the .swf files for the menu items such as Barter, Magic, Favorites etc. I do not know what loose files are, I am assuming .pex but there aren't any of those in the directory. A suggested fix was to just disable the error reporting function for Quest Journal but that is not an option in SkyUI. It only lists out Map, Favorites, Magic, Barter, Container and Gift. Also note that I have re installed both SKSE and SkyUI and I definitely have the latest versions installed. This error arrises every time I open my in game options menu. It does not appear to effect saves or quests in any way. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Van
Uriel Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Look for the "ski_*.pex" files in your Scripts folder. If found, try to move em somewhere. Otherwise, it's something inside your "Interface" folder.
Crashdown Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 hey if you are using the .bsa you should remove all loose .swf (of skyui ofc) as far i know, or the Skyui will cry a lot...and the .pex are used by skyui ski_activeeffectswidget.pexski_configbase.pexski_configmanager.pexski_configmenu.pexski_favoritesmanager.pexski_main.pexski_playerloadgamealias.pexski_qf_configmanagerinstance.pexski_questbase.pexski_settingsmanager.pexski_widgetbase.pexski_widgetmanager.pexAnd the same inside source
Cynical Misanthrope Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 You can also go into MCM, and un-check all boxes regarding error messages. Menus will still work, only difference is, it wont tell you that you have a mismatch.
Vancien Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Deleting all of the .swf files inside Interface causes more errors to occur since they are all missing and SkyUI does not function properly anymore. Should I delete all of those .pex files? You can also go into MCM, and un-check all boxes regarding error messages. Menus will still work, only difference is, it wont tell you that you have a mismatch. But there isn't an option to disable anything for errors with Quest Journal. I listed what options are there in the original post. Are you saying I should just turn them all off anyway?

There is no option for it, unless it's somewhat coded into another category. Anyway, I always turned them all off, and never had issues after that. And when I mean turn off, I mean not the addon itself, just the pop-up messages. MCM>SKyUI>Advanced
Vancien Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 So I disabled all of the notification menus available. Quest or Journal not being an option and it did not resolve the issue. It still pops up with the same error. I feel like something is missing and there should be a Quest or Journal option to disable there.
Uriel Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 SkyUI currently provides no loose files at all. Correct SkyUI installation only has SkyUI.esp and SkyUI.bsa.
Crashdown Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Yeah but as far i know mod organizer usualy unpack bsa... I downloaded skyui 3.1 to see those loose files and are the same of 4.1 and new ones So if you reinstall with loose files you should overwrite the old ones. If using the bsa like Uriel said, remove/relocate all loose files related with Skyui. In that way cant be any errors, i hope...
Vancien Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I used Mod Organizer and it deletes the .bsa after extraction. I am not sure where I would "move" any files to and what files I should move. I could try a re-install of SkyUI in MO and tell it (No) to unpacking the .bsa files. I'm not certain that would rectify this issue. I suppose it is worth a shot. Edit: Un-installed and Re-Installed SkyUI, not unpacking the .bsa and it did not resolve the issue. It still comes up when I enter options menu.
judge0 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Would it be possible for you to post: 1: BOSSlog.html from [where-its-installed]\BOSS\Skyrim 2: a screenshot {of Mod Organizer} with SkyUI showing in the left-hand panel thanks
Vancien Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Certainly! 1: Boss Log 2: Mod Organizer I hope this is what you were requesting and it works properly. If not please let me know and I'll do whatever I can to rectify. Thanks!
judge0 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Vancien: The thunderbolt icon with the minus sign beside SkyUI indicates something is overwriting it. If you right-click SkyUI on the lefthand panel, and click information another window will pop up. Click on the tab labelled "Conflicts". It will have two sections: The top section will be for mods that it over-writes. The bottom section is the one we are interested in, it indicates mods that over-write it. This will let you know what is causing your problem. As for BOSSlog.html, it appears that you are running it from outside MOD Organizer. Below is instructions from S.T.E.P. wiki for Mod Organizer installation of BOSS: BOSSBetter Oblivion Sorting Software (BOSS) can be added to the list of executable via default procedure: Click the gears icon . This opens the "Modify Executables" window. In the "Title" field, type "BOSS" (or whatever else you desire to call it). This fills in the "Title" field. All the way to the right of the "Binary" field is a button with an ellipsis with a subtext of "Browse filesystem." Click it. This opens a window where we can browse to the program we want to run. Navigate to BOSS's directory (probably C:\BOSS) and select the "BOSS GUI.exe" application. This fills in the "Binary" field. Click the "Add" button. This will add BOSS to your executables list. Click OK. Please Note: You may alternatively use the command-line "BOSS.exe" executable in the BOSS directory to bypass the GUI. Other utilities can be installed likewise from this website: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#tab=Third_Party_Programs Thanks, let me know how you make out.
Vancien Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Judge, You are the fucking man. And I mean that in a good way. So, being a complete moron the other day, I ran BOSS as previously brain trained by myself. Rather than doing it the new way through MO. I had it setup already as an executable. It just didn't even cross my mind as I have not made a lot of MO processes habitual yet. Forgive me, I am getting there. So without further a due, I want to announce the issue is terminated. The fix was as simple as adjusting the load order of, (TDoD) The Dance of Death and Arjestin Font Re-placers as they were the conflicting culprits. The fix was as simple as allowing SkyUI the ability to dominate them rather than being dominated. In other words, Overwrite. So, SkyUI is back to its normal self again and not spitting out that silly error. As I mentioned, everything still functioned such as quests updating and such but every time the options menu was executed, that error would arise. This certainly makes me thankful for switching to MO. And I learned something new about fixing conflicts. Thank you very much!
judge0 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 You're welcome . . . Now help someone else, damnit!!!!
Vancien Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Of course, I already posted this information over on Nexus and this thread actually comes up on Google if you search for Error Code 6 SkyUI, so I'd assume others may find it here as well. I don't know that this issue will be exactly replicated, but I think it is safe to say they really don't have a probable fix with their "go delete loose files" resolution. I always try and be helpful, at least when I think I may have something to contribute.
