Footstep sounds in first person - missing. Solved

Recommended Posts

As title says: footstep sounds in first person are not happening.

I recall seeing a mention of a mod that causes this to happen.  Does anyone know which it is off the top of their heads?

Just need that - no need to dive in deep!

Thanks.

Footstep sounds are played from the animation.

Remember to consider your current FP camera mod, and what it might be changing in this situation. Disable it before testing if in doubt.

My first  suspect would be FNIS Sexy Move 360 if you use it.

Thanks! But I don't use it.

I used Improved Camera SE as my main camera but it's not noted for losing footstep sounds.

I've got a list of potential mods to test. Just wondered if anyone else experienced this and knows the culprit.

What I mean when I said to consider FP camera mods is not whether the one you're using is directly know to remove footstep sounds or not but rather what kind of magic it's doing: is it totally overhauling the FP camera and rendering the body mesh and its animations manually, or is it repurposing the 3rd person camera and letting the game render the 3rd person animations while in 1st person. If the camera mod is doing everything manually, it might also be responsible for playing the footstep sounds on que. Also, is there a difference between 1st and 3rd person animations? Maybe not for walking/running/sprinting, but for weapon attacks there is.

I did, and somehow I've solved it, but vaguely remember what was a culprit in my case and searching thru notes came empty. Hence my guess.
