Issue regarding head color change of custom NPCs during sexlab scenes

i've made some basic custom npcs/followers using proteus and as the title states the head color of the npc changes back to the default head color of the race of the npc whenever a scene is triggered

 

it isn't much of an issue as i can just load the preset of the npc onto them again during the scene but it is slightly inconvenient and i'll be more than happy to hear any suggestions you may have

That to me sounds like there's a discrepancy between the NPC_ record and the facegen data. Proteus in general does a lot of things it's not supposed to do so I'm not surprised it has issues like this. This mod might fix it, but keep in mind that this is yet another mod that's doing something it's not supposed to do: expect different kinds of issues as a result.

thx but i actually already have that mod lol

do u have any recommendations for other mods for creating npcs? i just need something can conveniently create and delete them

Lazy Followers, proteus predecessor. got it's own issues but I never got the problem with the colored faces with it and most visiual bugs can be fixed with disable/Enable command. 

 

It even does bodyoverlays if you set ^RM full mode to 11 in it's mcm debug section.

Just don't expect to win any fights with them. I never used it to play the game, only do make my horny screens

 

(and you might want to get rid of proteus before you install Lazy.. Using two buggy mods that do the same thing together just invits trouble)

alr i went ahead and uninstalled proteus and wiped my save with re saver then i got lazy followers and it is better but now there's an issue of the characters sharing the same hair color if an SL scene starts for example if one of them has black hair the other one's hair color will also switch to black and vice versa

the only times I got this problem is with my own player characktr. They would get the haircolor of the last lazy I spawned. Easy fix is to open racemenu and closing it again, then it shouldn't happen again. If it happens with other lazy followers, I never had that

nvm the original head color issue is still present T-T

I feel like all you did was switch one mod that's doing something it shouldn't, for another mod that's doing something it shouldn't. Not surprised your hair color gets randomized every time you get banged. I've not seen Lazy Followers though so maybe I should shut up.

 

The fundamental issue I see here is that these tools probably do not generate esp plugins for the NPCs they add. Thus the facegen data they attach to these NPCs can never match the NPC_ record(s). It's the brownface bug on steroids.

The weird thing is, I am using Lazy followers for years and tho I got bugs of course, I never got that bug OP mentioned.

You're right it doesn't generate an ESP, from what I understand, it spawns  genereic NPC's of which you can apply a preset you generate in a folder, together with it's sculpt data and bodymorphs, even slavetats work afterwards

Look at the second picture and check if Headnif is checked on your end. If not you named the sculpt files wrong which can fuck up the presets in a variety of ways maybe your color problem is part of it 

ya i made sure i exported tje jslot and nif with the same name and headnig was check so that's not the issue 
you mentioned that my presets might have had an issue so downloaded a random one from nexus and used that but the issue still persisted so its not that either

all of my exported files get sent to a mod i made specifically for that instead of overwrite so could that be the issue? oh and ya i use mo2

Mh.. It is a theory.. Lazy Followers and Proteus are buggy miracles, they should not work but they do.. (Well Kinda as you're experiencing rn.)

as buggy as they are, if a mod does anything besides them it might be the problem  maybe make a clean save and try again without your mod?

What I am experiencing a lot is that the body of some NPC slots become bugged and I have to use another slot to continue in the savegame I'm using.

Maybe what you have is something similiar, try other slots. What you have to keep in mind tho it, this is kinda contagious and will get to other slots as well later. Only an entire clean save keeps it from happening for a while. I'm still hunting down the trigger (But it will most likely be a broken preset or it could be a race mod)

 

But I also never use a savegame for more than a couple of hours and never get over level 1 so I can't say if it's even a mod you WANT To have in an actual playthrough for how buggy it might become.

using other slots didn't work either big oof but after reading ur reply to traison i'm pretty certain that the issues on my end so i'll post the solution here if i do manage to get enough time to thoroughly troubleshoot and actually find a fix thx again btw for urs and @traison's help
