Oblivion white screen

I am playing the classic version of Oblivion and it is modded.  Everything was going fine until today.  Every time I try to start a new game I get a white screen then a crash before getting to the character creator.

Okay I got rid of the white screen but the game still crashes when starting a new game.  Don't know what I did I have not altered the modlist.  When I start a new game without any mods it starts fine so I know it's a mod problem but don't know which one.

If you haven't changed anything, it can't suddenly stop working.

 

-Have you changed anything? A new version of OBSE? 
-Or are you using a Nexus mod managers that automatically checks for updates and installs them to break your game, because the update for the one mod isn't compatible with your other mods (e.g., add-ons for the updated mod)?  Never use mod managers with automatic functions. Download the mods yourself, unpack them, and check what's inside. Modify and delete if necessary. Only then should you put the mod in your mod manager and install it.

-Have there been an Windows Update again, that caused OBSE to stop working?

-Do old save files work? And if so, do you have a save file after prison, before you leave the sewer into the world? There you can completely change the entire Character Creation.

 

But the fact that your game even ran was a success with the loadorder you have. 

Nothing should be loaded afterLoversIdleAnimsPriority.esp and LoversAnimObjectsPriority.esp. These two are always the end of the load order. Everything after the two ESPs needs to be sorted.

And a tip; If you don't have any mods that require xOBSE, try OBSE21. I'm still using it because I had problems in the game the two times I tried using xOBSE. So I won't try xOBSE again until I have mods that require it.

Thanks Fejeena for the reply but I figured it out.  I uninstalled the Steam version and installed the GOG version with the same mods and the game works fine now.  Once again thank you for the detailed reply.

Okay new problem the texture on the npc's clothing are black.

Figured out the problem it was the mod 'Modern Engine Fixes' that was causing the issues.
