Derpakiin Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Hello friends. I am noticing some terrain texture issues when walking about, they appear as polygonal triangle patterns, as if they are mapping out the mesh the texture is on. When I switch off my ENB it's less noticeable which leads me to think that the SSAO might be a bit too aggressive. On the flip side, I am also wondering if this could be an actual terrain texture issue or even a parallax bug. I don't specifically run mods for snow terrain, but I do run VRAMr to optimize textures. Could this also be the issue?
Chupa Chups Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) Hello there! It’s hard to say exactly what’s causing the square geometry of terrain without more details. Below are a few relevant questions about your game. 1) Is Skyrim set to be controlled by the application in your graphics card settings? 2) What edition of game is installed on your computer — Legendary or Special one? 3) Does this terrain distortion occur in locations from Skyrim and its official DLCs, or in those ones from/provided by mods? As the Greek proverb says: “Follow the thread to the ball” - My point is that you did the right thing by disabling/turning off the ENB preset to start troubleshooting. Here [1], [2] are two links that lead to guide with Skyrim configuration - just in case, my eyes won't look here again. Sorry, I just don't see myself in the role of a good supporter gifted with patience/forbearance. Good luck! Edited May 18 by Chupa Chups
Echi Corsair Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Disable Vramr and see if the issue persists. First thing that I though of was parallax though. I personally don't use parallax but maybe a mod like this would help. In this post they say reducing "shadow bias" from bethini helps. Might be worth a try. Edited May 23 by Echi Corsair

That you're seeing them means that the meshes/textures you're using for snow terrain and/or textures are using bad normal maps or parallax. If you're using VRAMr, why not just disable its output and test to see if it's the cause? Otherwise, use the console to identify the mesh and find out which mod is changing the .nif or its textures. Then you can check your load order for conflicts or try installing alternative snow mods to check the result.
