kofman77 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hey guys. I recently learned how to finally install and get ENB's going. I went with RealVision Performance B and now I have this stuttering issue that I've had no success with fixing. l have around 50+fps outside but can dip down to 20fps and can sometimes stop me dead for a split second. Always in exteriors, no stuttering with interiors. If I disable the ENB, the stutter is gone. GrimReaperCalls Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Try disabling a few ENB-features in the ENB Options menu (open the console then hit Shift+Enter). Specifically things like Ambient Occlusion etc. Have you made any changes to your ini files (other than the tweaks required for the ENB)? Try generating new ones (rename/move Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini then start the Skyrim Launcher and reconfig), then redo the ENB tweaks. Try disabling mods like Distant Terrain overhauls. V-Sync?
Honesty Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 What do you mean "stuttering"Do you mean, it's almost like a flash show? Wont go away until you pause the game, or go back into an interior? This is usually related to vRAM.You say you have a 3GB vRAM video card. That's nice. Really shouldn't be hitting your limit, unless for some odd reason, you decided to use 2K textures for landscape (should use 1k no matter what - and 2K for mountains) and a bunch of 4096 sized textures and shadows COMBINED with ENB .. you're going to get slapped with frame rate loss. Are you also using ENBoost correctly? It "comes with" all versions of RealVision now (I use RealVision myself) - you just have to make sure it's tweaked correctly. Don't use the default settings realvision gives.
blabba Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 If this refers to actual micro-stuttering like that which is commonly found in 2-way SLI and Crossfire, then the only real fix is disable v-sync for now and hope for better driver support or change the sli/crossfire rendering mode. But from your specs, it seems that this is not the case. I would still recommend disabling v-sync if you have true 'micro-stuttering' it should help greatly. Also, just try toning down RealVision effects as the others suggested.

You can force it off in your nvidia control panel or in the .ini, but is not advisable. Disabling Vsync does not only make the game look like shit (yay the screen looks cut in half when I spin around too much) - especially in a game as beautiful as a fully modded out Skyrim - but it messes with the Time Scale. (Upping the ugrids too much can also affect time scale and break quests) I'd sugegst: Correct ENBoost settings, lower landscapes from 2K to 1K, lover your particles in your .ini to 999 or lower and make sure you're using latest drivers and have Skyrim set to "perfer maxium performance" in control panel. Do not forget with ENB, you must set Anistropic filtering in control panel to "Application Controlled" and have AO on "OFF" You must also set via .INI settings that AA, and AF is =0 as well. These can NOT be on while ENB is on. You'll see lots of strange artifacts and produce a lot of errors. Possibly crash as well.
blabba Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 O.o, I had no idea? I'm currently playing with vSync forced off in my SLI (because I run SLI and my frames are crap with it on especially when I use realvision enb...) Granted, I understand that this does not really 'disable' Vsync as a form of it will always be used by the game engine (similar to Dark Souls) but you can change the form of vsync and switch from your drivers handling it to the game handling it (I think, I'm not a 100% sure on this, I'm a software dev not a hardware wizard xD) But yea, my reference xD: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide#1 Now that Nvidia has decent drivers for SLI systems for the game though, letting the drivers manage vSync works fine now (at least for me, I still play with 'em off for slightly reduced mouse lag).
Honesty Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 You should just bMouseAcceleration=0 in the .ini (and get a gaming mouse - I don't have any smoothing/acceleration/dampening/lag problems)Yes. I remember a long awhile back Arthmoor found out about the time scale thing and iPresentInterval/Vsync. If you disable it you will possibly experience bugs involving physics issues, clipping issues, timescale-de-synchronizations, and time based quests breaking.
kofman77 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Okay after a fair bit of testing and tweaking I realized I had set the shadow textures too high in my skyrim.ini file (thanks for the clue Honesty). Now I get 60 fps with some minor and momentary stutter as I enter a new cell. I'm still gonna tweak the setting to see if I can remove the stutter completely(any other tips?). Plus I gonna see if there other more performance friendly ENBs out there. Thanks for all the input guys!
