Dez65 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I changed a piece of Ayleid Piercings from slot 53 to slot 50 as I have piecess of clothing using slot 53 (e.g. Thigh Armor from Tawoba) that I want the pc to wear with the piercing. I note that I've done this with other jewelry from the same mod without problem. However, when I now equip this particular jewelry, it hides anything in slot 53. I made sure to change the slots in both the armor and armor addon sections in xedit and I've double checked that the only slot number reflected for the jewelry at both locations is slot 50. I also changed the slots in all of the BSDismemberSkinInstance in Nifscope. I even checked the esp in Creation Kit to see if somehow the jewelry was showing both 50 and 53. Tearing my hair out about this as I've been modifying slots for equipment for a long time and never run into this peculiarity.
traison Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I've had issues in the past getting items defined in light plugins to switch slots. Start a new game and test again.

The new slots are reflected in the inventory (I have a mod that adds slot number to the inventory) and both the piercing and the piece of clothing are shown as equipped. It's just that the clothing is not rendered or is hidden (whatever the nomenclature). It's like what happens if you forget to change a slot number in one of the three places (Armor, Armor Addon and NIF). Edited May 13 by Dez65
traison Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Another option is that you forgot to build the meshes in BodySlide after changing the partitions.

The only difference was that piercing originally had a different slot number than the piercing that's causing trouble. Oh well! The mysteries of modding.

When this has happened to me, it was always because I missed updating a partition record in the _0.nif or _1.nif files. When a mesh has multiple records with partitions, it's easy to miss updating one, and one is all it takes to cause the mesh to keep occupying the old slot. I would carefully re-check that no partition records were missed. Another of saying it is that when this happens, I know it's because I messed up, and if the Armor and Armor Addon slots are correct, it has to be a missed partition in one of the mesh files.
traison Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) Is slot 50 an option for SOS, TNG or a similar mod? 49 and 52 are for SOS but don't know about the rest. The SOS dong will hide whatever you put in its slot. Edited May 14 by traison

See PASH - Piercings Auto Show and Hide at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community Thanks for checking in though! The unspoken rule that applies to all problems and which gets more and more true every single day is that every mod with a dll that you install should be added to the list of potential fixes to any given issue. Using this thread as an example: You have an equipment slot or mesh partition conflict. <insert your list of SKSE plugins here> That means, for your equipment slot and mesh partition conflicts you also need to consider: window_washer_2000.dll, longer_dildos.dll and better_horse_headlights.dll. Any dll can do anything, this includes removing your ability to shoot in Call of Duty, deleting Alvor from Skyrim and stealing your password as you log in to your home owners association portal. Anyways, well done for finding it.
