CTR-X Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) I've been using this site for years now and have always noticed how the search bar we are so generously provided FUCKING SUCKS. Works 100%😉 For example, say I want to find a popular Skyrim mod like SLHH (SexLab Horrible Harassment). The thread is called "Sexlab Horrible Harassment Expansion LE/SE 3.85 Hotfix" So I'll type that in, and here's what pops up: WTF is this? It's 4 pages of random mods with the first keyword of 'SexLab' in them. That's weird, I guess I'll take out the word SexLab since that seems to be causing issues. I'll just search "Horrible Harassment" and that should work, right? Oh, hold on I have to wait 11 seconds.... Okay, What?!?! Why in Akatosh's name is the FIRST RESULT the Bella Voice pack Hub?!?!? THE WHOLE TITLE IS DIFFERENT. Whatever, I guess I'll type in "SLHH" in the search bar, since that is what the file itself is called (SLHH Expansion 3.85 Hotfix.7z) Okay, epic. Maybe the mod is in a different category like regular skyrim and that's why its not working? (go try this for yourself, it's impossible to get this thread to show up I've tried every which way Sexlab Horrible Harassment Expansion LE/SE - Misc Sex - LoversLab) Now you're just fucking with me LL. I need an explanation this. It is by far the worst search engine EVER. Not to mention the SEO in search engines like Duck duck go and Bing (lmao) are atrocious as well. To find a mod I want, I have to go out of my way to go to the Google homepage, and then type in the mod name and HOPE it shows up. If not, I have to type 'Lovers Lab' at the end and then it usually works. That's the end of my rant, I just wanted to see if anyone else has this impotent rage against the search bar here and to let the mods know this is a problem which I can't believe they don't already know but its been like this for YEARS. Enjoy a picture of Impotent Rage: Edited May 2 by CTR-X Images goin buckwild
CTR-X Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 I can't delete the last picture, I've tried but it is a persistent little shit. Just let him chill there ig 🤷♂️
judge007 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Whether LL's search feature works or not, I don't know. I don't know because I use google instead Try opening google and typing in the search field "Skyrim SE Sexlab horrible harrassment site:loverslab.com", without the quotes of course. Works wonders don't it?
shrtjsrtj Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Click the "+More search options" and change "Find results that contain..." from any to all, and maybe only search for titles. 1
HollyR Posted May 5 Posted May 5 The internal search on most forums is notoriously bad -- it is a problem everywhere, not just here. The workaround of using Google with site:loverslab.com "mod name" is solid and what most power users do anyway. On the offsite SEO side, if you are trying to get mods to show up in regular Google search, the page titles and descriptions matter a lot more than people realize. Keeping titles descriptive and clean instead of just "SLHH 3.85" makes a big difference for discoverability.
