jbezorg Posted April 19 Posted April 19 So Vortex is stuck enabling and disabling a several mod's ESM files. I've disabled all the mod management automation that I can find but still enable/disable/enable/disable/enable in an infinite loop. Load order keeps shifting and certain mods are constantly getting enabled/disable despite trying to eliminate all the load order rules and manually set the load order. Starfield keeps crashing when I try to play. What a complete and utter CF of a program. Â

Starfield keeps crashing when I try to play. What a complete and utter CF of a program.  I noticed in a recent update that any changes made (i.e. disabling or enabling mods) causes it to remove ALL the links for every mod and then re-enable them. The load order is absolute garbage and to get a lot of mods to work ive had to set the rules in both the conflict manager and the esp list. Even then the way it handles many ESP files (especially forcing lights to load with highest priority) is trash. If I wasnt worried about breaking the mods I've finally managed to get working I would swap to MO2
Sandatharius Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I've been using Vortex since its inception, and never had the issues being described. Load order is always spot-on. I think only one time I had to change a mod's order mechanically. I've tried MO2 at least 5 times, and never had any success, both understanding it, and using it. Gave up after struggling with it, and went back to Vortex, which in my book, works flawlessly. Each to his/her own, I suppose. 1

I guess that since it told me that "SP2_FactionRequisitionKiosks.esm" was not loaded twice and is currently loaded in the details it's mostly not loaded? Edited April 19 by jbezorg
jbezorg Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Or is SP2_FactionRequisitionKiosks.esm and other mod files in the Vortex load order having an existential crisis?

There are YouTube videos by Gopher, from the Skyrim era, that are very good at explaining the basics of Mod Organizer (at the time, the 32-bit version also known as Mod Organizer 1), and which still apply to most of Mod Organizer 2 today. I tried Vortex, precisely because of the release of Starfield, since Mod Organizer 2 available on Nexusmods didn't yet recognize that game. And I messed up! Luckily, someone posted an invitation in the messages section of the Mod Organizer 2 page on Nexusmods to the Discord page where the latest versions of Mod Organizer are, including the beta versions. I went back to Mod Organizer and now I don't want anything else. But, hey, everyone follows their own path.

It was necessary to update this mod manager for these problems to disappear. The latest Mod Organizer updates are in the Discord discussion I mentioned in the previous message.

And I think this is the problem. As far as I can tell.... Latest update to StarField will unload mod files that use a Blueprint ESMs as a master if they are not also Blueprint mods because this will a cause of save corruption. Robert S Male Body replacer is one of them. It has Starship_blueprint.esm (I think that's the correct file name) as a master. The latest Vortex takes this update into account and will unload the mod from the load order because who wants a save corrupted. Right? Buuuuuutttttt.... Robert S Male Body is a required mod for a collection I have loaded in Vortex. So the Collection portion of Vortex loads it back in because it's a required mod. Do you know how many hours I burned tracing this out and doing something the Developers of Vortex should have already done? Fuck Bethesda. Fuck Starfield Fuck Vortex. Edited April 20 by jbezorg
brown66 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 That's why I continue to use Robert S Body Replacer version 0.3. Check if you still have one of the older versions before you need to use SF Extended Skeleton.
jbezorg Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 I may have an older copy somewhere but at this point I don't feel like sorting it out.
