How do I get/make creature rigs in blender to make animations.

I use this one to make/edit human animations, but I can't find any creature rigs.

Is there some place for me to download them or a tutorial on how to make my own?

Use Pynifly: https://github.com/BadDogSkyrim/PyNifly

bring over skeleton.nif (make sure the "rename bones" & "create bones" options are unchecked) and the body mesh of the creature you want to rig.

That'll give you a barebones structure, then rig it with Rigify or AutoRig or whatever people use for Blender rigging nowadays - so you have the proper easy to use controllers for animating.

Then you can export animations using Pynifly itself or JG's export plugin 🙂

I've rigged a few creatures this way for a different program, it works well.

I got exporting animations to work, but I'm having problems with importing them. Here I'm trying to import a giant's basic attack club swing animation.

Importing Hkx with pynifly or havok straight up doesn't work and nothing happens, while importing gamebryo kf causes the animation to be completely messed up. Is there a way to fix this?

The Rigify generate rig option is also greyed out. Is there something I'm missing?image.png.4027b10f5049f39b940a1c1e8ec86167.png
