Game crashes after a kill.

Hi, I've recently tried coming back to modding but I've encountered quite annoying problem. Whenever I defeat an enemy, sometimes it causes the game to CTD (I've included crash log) And I don't know what could be the culprit, as I'm not good at reading them. Has anyone encountered this kind of issue and has potential fix for it? I've even tried starting a new game but still same thing happens.

It's having issues with alpha tests while processing the BSLightingShader of the facegen data of form id 0x00039CF6 "Bandit" in form id 0x000B6BE6 "EmbershardMine01".

 

Remove or rebuild the facegen data associated with this NPC and test again.

It happens randomly with random npc, not only the one in the embershard mine, so would it be npc mod of some sort? I don't remember if I've downloaded ones that change random males npcs.

It's always FNIS, Nemisis or Pandora. This is not a behaviour file problem though.

Sure, but that's the only hint you have right now so use your mod manager to find the facegen mesh of this NPC, then see if you need to remove the entire mod or if this is an isolated issue. Bandits show up everywhere and they're clones of eachother, it's entirely possible this is a problem with a single mesh file.

I'm not aware of any crashes in vanilla facegen files. Seems more likely you have an NPC overhaul of some description.

Can confirm. It happened to me as well, once. This is how I solved it.

How can i find a facegen mesh in MO2? When I search facegen in data tab it shows only expressive facegen morph. I don't really know If I'm looking correctly.

I don't remember the name, alas, it was a mod that changed the appearance of every female bandit.

The fastest DIY approach would have been to download any follower mod from the Nexus. Follower comes with a facegen mesh, thus revealing the path and file name structure to you.

 

You're looking for:

meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\Skyrim.esm\00039CF6.nif

Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm\00039CF6.dds

...and any other dds files referenced in the nif.

I tried to find 000B6BE6 mentions in the mods folder but couldn't find any unfortunately. Also tried to disable most of the mods that could potentially modify facegen but still nothing.

If we assume this is true then my next thing would be to disable all shader replacers. ENB has to go, and this includes addons like ENBFrameGeneration.dll. After that the next thing to go is EngineFixes.dll. EngineFixes probably can't be disabled without the game crashing so it might be easier to try to switch to another version on that one first. Try to get it to disappear from the callstack.

 

Edit: Also the form id of the NPC is 39CF6. B6BE6 is EmberShardMine01.

Tried removing and disabling every enb related thing, still same thing. I'm starting to wonder if there is other option than just reinstall everything again.

Doubt a reinstall is required for something like this. If you're up for a remote desktop session I'll come have a look. TeamViewer or RustDesk. Just make sure you understand what that means before you agree to anything - the top banner at the rustdesk site is especially important. PM me if you think this is a good idea.

Before that I'm thinking about brute forcing it to work, like disabling every category one after another, If that would help. Tried doing the other way, with enabling every category after a try but couldn't get it to work.

After quite some time of brute forcing my game to work I finally found a culprit of my issue. The mod Multiple amulets and rings was the one, especially the 0.0.6 version. Removing it made the game work again. Thanks to three of you for your spent time on helping me!

The more mods with dlls we get, the more weird nonsense problems like this there will be. It's amazing what people do with dll mods, but the unfortunate fact seems to be that no one truly knows what they're doing. Emphasis on the word "truly" there.

 

Good job finding it though.
