Recommended Custom Race mod

Back again,

I'm currently using ECE's ygNord race and I use that as my race primary due to it being separate from vanilla's race resources. In other words I don't want all my NPC's trying to use nearly 300mb+ of textures each.

What I possibly need is a custom race mod which is similar, stats and rubbish that race may have are of no concern to me unless FORCED to use human or un-human like features and so not fully customisable (e.g. stuck with cat ears)! I don't know what might be best to use out there? Easier the better please?

Is it safe to overwrite ECE's pex files would you know?

You could get a clean install, or you could end up with lots of glitches in places you don't expect

ECE provides it's own version of RaceCompatibility, and is new enough that it is safe to overwrite the companionshousekeeping, Vampire and werewolf scripts.

If you install another Race be very careful of those particular scripts and RaceCompatibility.

The Ningheim Race doesn't ship with RaceCompatibility and uses it's own custom scripts, so it would be safe to use it.

The Ashen Race DOES Provide RaceCompatibility and those scripts but in a non-compatible format. Careful With that one.

The Lovergirl Race at last look was broken in regards to RaceCompatibility.

The Temptress Race relies on an external install of RaceCompatibility, so would work with ECE.

Some of the others may work without jumping through too many hoops.

tl:dr Your comfort level in manually moving files around will determine which race you end up using.

As for Custom Race mentioned previously, it comes with a RaceCompatibility that is older than the one in ECE. The odds are that the scripts that come with it MAY NOT work with ECE, and ECE won't work with any other version of RaceCompatibility than it's own.

Again, be careful.

So Ningheim Race might be best bet? Just hoping it has it's own folder directory and easy to find, all I would do is try and replace all the resources it uses with what I have in ygNord if that may work? I did install custom and replaced ECE's stuff. But without extensive testing which didn't happen, the only thing that seemed iffy was going into racemenu seems a little choppy while selecting things like different eye colors which before was more or less instant but now with 1.5sec delay...

I zero knowledge about scripts and CK etc so I try to be cautious as poss and picked ECE back in the day because of the ygNord extra character race, which is ideal of keeping mega character textures seperate from all the other inhabitants of Skyrim and less strain on GPU.

Don't know if the Ningheim race works well with ECE, but it does with racemenu+chargenMorphsECE.

Currently I'm using ygNord as well, but I have a Ningheim character too. It installs well, the folders are easy to find, it uses the standard location for animations, and comes with some really detailed warpaints. It does not use scripting that can be overwritten, and just calls on the RaceCompatibility that is installed on the system. RaceCompatibility and it's scripts are provided by Enhanced Character Edit (in your case), so you're good to go.
