Invisible tattoos but only on hands and feet and only at some angles

EDIT: Apparently this issue was self correcting. But advice on the technical aspects would still be appreciated for learning purposes.

 

 

 

I've never encountered this before and have no idea why it is happening.

 

On my character's hands and feet, tattoos are invisible. But they're fully visible on the body and face. If I zoom in with free camera, the tattoos appear. But if I zoom out the tattoos start to fragment and then they vanish.

 

This is a brand new save and the .dds files do have mipmaps.

 

This occurs even when the character is completely nude.
