HELP how to make character look good?

I want to play with mods but im a noobike. I've already installed other mods I wanted, but I can't get my character to look pretty. I've tried different mods on skins and other stuff, but nothing worked form me, and the amount of stuff is overwhelming me,  I've already wasted a ton of time on it. I'm open to any suggestions and would love to know what others are using and how(mods enbs everything), the only requirement is CBBE (because most cool mods use it). and i also love to know how to make shiny skin.
