tase Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 What are the differences between these two ? I tried googling but I didn't find any comparison. I've only tried Immersive First Person so far, and it doesn't really work with melee combat, hard to gauge distances and you usually can't see your weapon. All I know is that Joy of Perspective needs compatibility patches for some things, since I've seen it mentioned in installers / nexus pages.
Thulas Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 While IFP uses a script to achieve the fov, JoP alters the skeleton (if I remember that right) which causes a lot of problems if you want to use it with certain other mods; SexLab for example is incompactible with JoP.
Claynation01 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 i tried them both i did not really like either but if i had to choose i would say IFP the camera movement while a bit over the top sometimes, is much more immersive it has support for creature/VampireLord/Werewolf, and when you are mounted on horseback [ i think ] plus more and a selection or profiles to choose from say if one feels too bouncy u can switch to another with less camera movement, but sometime u cant see your hands which is kinda of putting for me if i play a mage. Peace
Someone92 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Immersive First Person takes the third person camera and places it in front of your character's face. The Joy of Perspective is a "true" first person mod, it changes your 1st person skeleton to display your own whole body expect your head. In theory both mods require "compatibility patches" to work. The differences is that Immersive First Person requires 3rd person skeleton compatibility patches of which plentiful exists because a lot of animation mods require them, too. The Joy of Perspective requires 1st person skeleton compatibility patches, and because it's pretty much the only mod that uses and needs them they are not (yet) common. This makes it a lost easier to get Immersive First Person to work, in addition to can just deactivate it ingame with a simple key press. Btw: Immersive First Person is compatible to The Joy of Perspective, so you can use both and just switch to Immersive First Person for situations which The Joy of Perspective can't handle (yet?), e.g. SexLab animations.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 JoP breaks saves and games, IFP Not the only thing that IFP still lacks is a option to use the 1st person anims with the 3rd person body, since the 1st person anims has legs for movement but is BALLS DEEP coded for now
Redflyingmonkey Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I was using both some time ago, and it was really overkill so I only kept IFP. With the right settings it's as stable as a well installed JoP, even though you have to spend half an hour to tweak everything right for all the profiles. Good part for IFP is, as the others have said, it doesn't need anything, it's just the camera (which mean you can toggle IFP while tanning or mining for example, or mounting a dragon !)
Uriel Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Just use IFP, JOP adds another layer of incompatibility. No point to use it with IFP around.
tase Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Thanks for all the info, looks like Immersive First Person is the way to go, especially since you guys are saying Joy Perspective is a bit buggy.
