Which version of Fallout to use for modding?

Sorry if this isnt the right place to ask, but Ive been away from Fallout modding for a while, and as I understand, the latest update again broke a lot of mods. Is it safe to use the latest game version again by now, or should I downgrade to a previous version?

The latest update afaik broke the game even more than the NG update. NG by itself is bad due to performance issues introduced for no reason. I would recommend 1.10.163, which is pre NG. Downgrading with simple downgrader or the CM-Toolkit.

I might be wrong, but afaik on GoG you can have game version 163 only and the CK is not available at all. That would mean that you can't update and have newer Creations even if you wanted to. Let alone the CK. If this is still the case I believe that should be made clear before spending money for the game. On Steam you can have every version (with a bit of work) and keep FO 4 from updating. I am still on version 163 from there.

I had a working Fallout 4 with STEAM.

Then came the Steam NG update and my loverslab mods stopped working.

I bought the G.O.G. Fallout 4 version 10.163 and started over.

All good now though had issues with the dreaded flaccid/missing dongss

Since solved.
