Hades II: Free the Nipple Edition

With the main Hades 2 thread becoming quite cluttered with different content and discussions, people agreed that it is worth opening a new thread for this mod.

The main Hades 2 modding discussion can be found here. If you want a lot more sprites to be changed in a much more sexual way, you should check out Kuipo's mod with AI content!

Like its predecessor, Hades II: Free the Nipple Edition lewdens the sprites of Hades II while still staying true to the game's original visual style.

Unlike its predecessor, it is a team project, because modding Hades II is way more complicated than modding Hades 1.
Package compiled and uploaded by Kuipo. Art created and compiled by Eddyboy, involving contributions by Dorian Bates, Medician and Emikochan.

NOTE: You must be using high resolution textures to see the replacement images.
 
Install Instructions:

 

    1. Install r2modman, downloaded here: https://thunderstore.io/package/ebkr/r2modman/
    2. Run r2modman and create a profile if you have none.
    3. On the left of r2modman, select "Online" to look for mods.
    4. Select the "Filter" button in the top right and check the "Allow NSFW mods" to enable NSFW content, then select "Apply".
    5. Search for "FreeTheNippleEdition" and download it (allow installing dependencies)
    6. Launch Hades II by selecting Start Modded in the top left of r2modman

love the mod and all the effort that's going into it, you guys are the goats ❤️
i did notice however that the boobs on meli's bath sprite do look a little out of place, i was wondering if it was possible for you guys to look at potentially adding a bit more gravity to them? as they stand, they look a little artificial in the way they sit so far up and have so little stretch/weight lower down. understandably probably low priority, as i imagine getting every character included first would be more important

I get where you're coming from, and this is not the first critique of that particular sprite. It was the first "full body" one, and I remember not being 100% happy with it back when I made it. Emikochan even helped by fixing a lot of stuff, so they must have also been thinking that way to some degree.

Now I think the problem is not just the boobs, but the body proportions in general – She seems way too lanky here compared to her clothed sprites and especially compared to all the muscular people she keeps taking baths with.

I think I got a bit better at keeping it close enough to the game's original art style, and considering this is the bath sprite you see the most, I think I'll try to re-work or re-do it with a slightly more athletic frame to fit Melinoë better.

The nice thing of making a new thread is that I can share my progress without fear of cluttering up the main thread too much. 
I had a few hours today, and this is how far I came. Obviously work in progress, but I think I like it's shaping up to be much better than the old one.

Wondeful work so far! Would love to see more progress shots, I always find 'em so interesting... Sadly the mod doesn't seem to work on my end, my machine just won't allow me to view high definition textures for some reason, but I'm curious to see the edits nonetheless!

You don't want to try. The mods for Hades2 require dependencies and the mod is not just a drop in file. Modding for Hades2 is built around mod launchers. There are other launcher options other than r2modman but it is the main mod platform for Hades2 mods. Sorry.

Glad I waited to play the game this mod is required, you're a God. Question, are you planning on genderbending the guys like the other mod or no? If so, and maybe even if you make them nsfw at all, could we have a separate version? I'd rather have only the girls edited personally. Not saying you shouldn't do them as well of course (I see Odysseus already, but I'm too early on to do the bath scene with him so I can't check myself), but it's always nice options 😁

Edit: Omg also if I can suggest a change, aphrodite with pink pubes in the shape of a heart would be immaculate

No plan of any genderbending – The idea is to stay immersive, which in my opinion also includes full male nudity for the bath scenes where there's full female nudity, but Odysseus it still Odysseus there. I'm happy with Aphrodite the way she is, though I might rework the glinting and shining animation overlays at some point. They animate a little "jittery", because I hadn't figured out how to do it properly at the time (It was the first sprite I tried editing those with).

as much as I love immersion would love to see a more revealing version of everything, like "impractical clothing"/slutty outfits, but I bet that's probably not on your plans 😔

Hey guys, I noticed that the nude version of Eris is wearing a very different outfit than in the game. It was bothering me so much that I decided to make my own version to practice painting. I'm an NSFW artist and I incorporated some of my preferences into it, let me know what you think ^^

I really like this mod and how the art style is trying to stay true to the original style of the game. However, I am having an absolute devil of a time getting this to work. I'm not sure why -- I've gotten mods to work on Hades 2 before. However, every time I try to run the game through Gale (with this mod and its prereqs activated) I get a little Steam "application load error" -- anyone have insights?

I'm probably terrible at this kind of advice (Today I tried to package some of the new sprites I made into a new package since Kuipo is quite busy, only to fail again), but maybe just try r2modman instead of Gale for this one. 

 

Kuipo posted some more detailed install instructions on their mod page, so maybe look there for more detail:

THANK YOU! That actually did the trick. I thought that Gale and R2 were interchangeable, but it seems that using r2modman instead was the solution.

I said that I would post Work in Progress stuff from time to time, but didn't really deliver on that since then. And since I won't be able to finish this one today, I figured it might be a way to show a male sprite edit for a change.
