I'm using a collection (A storywealth and) and AAF home button displays dots instead of text and menus.

Can only find one instance of someone talking about this issue and it seems it might be caused by a custom font, but I can't figure it out and I can't see any custom fonts being used.

If anyone has any idea how to possibly fix I would be very grateful. (I know it might be hard cause its A LOT of mods in this collection so posting a load order might not be of much help)

Apologies in advance if I've followed directions badly.

Edit: assuming it could be FallUI. Any way around this?

@frogtamer and @Mous it's not UI problem. Remove your font mod. I mean installed font mod.

edit: sorry, still sleeping....I had the same problem and I had installed font mod. Removed mod, problem disaapeared...So check, maybe you have installed some kind of font mod

Have the same issue. Also assumed it was FallUI based on what I've come across while trying to troubleshoot.

Asked the AAF discord and they sadly said no collection support. I haven't added any font mods that I'm aware of and I can't identify any in the lengthy Storywealth mod list.

FallUI seems to be integral to the collection so I assume it's just not doable without a specific patch

It looks like an issue with localization. Meaning one or more of your mods uses a different language.

Personally I use FallUI and a different font, no experiences with what you are showing.

Go through all your MCM entries and look for mods with a lot of odd characters like $

If you find any, download a version of that mod that is in your default language.

Maybe it'll help.

For anyone still having trouble with this there is a few font mods causing this problems disable them all and their dependencies and you're good to go you can even do it mid-game I did it after 30 hours in my current run and no crashes since it only changed font size of something that I didn't even notice. I'll edit this in a bit and tell you which ones.

Edit: This works best(only) on vortex as it tells you what the disabled mod depends on. It should only take a few minutes to do disable "Publick Occurences Expanded" than simply disable anything that says its "Master" or relies on it I know that file isn't the problem but all it does is add more newspaper articles which I never read. At some point you'll get to the actual file which changes the font of the newspaper which fucks up AAF simple as that one all those files are gone you should no longer see the missing master error from vortex that means you got all the files and should be good to go. Also, this only works for the StoryWealth collection as thats whats causing it in this modpack can't say for others and its not Fallui I disabled it and nada so you can keep that.

hello,

just letting know for other users of the "A storywealth" collection encountering this bug with AAF, the deletion of "fontconfig.txt" worked quite well, ty for that!

I second that outcome.  I deleted fonconfig.txt (after backing it up).  I'm getting an interactive set of options but they are a bit confusing?  Are there any instructions on how work thru them to get something to work?

This worked for me as well, but the problem is that it keeps on coming back. So we need to keep deleting the file, which is kinda annoying. I wish there was a more permanent way to fix it.

I was able to find a permanent fix it's from a comment I found on a better notes patch. Apparently, it's Better Notes in Storywealth that is causing the issue. However, the patch itself seems to be outdated and doesn't fix our issue.

I exported the default file and found that Bethesda updated their file for creation club font's. I pasted that into the patch to overwrite the lower section and the green boxes are fixed. Paste the section below into the fontconfig.txt file and you should be good to go. Make sure you only replace the lower section in the file. Hope this helps out!
