[LF] Child actor disabler

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Looking for a mod that disables child actors from the game, but does not remove them, ideally similar in fashion to what SLSF does with a MCM toggle. I am not going to install whole SLSF just for that one feature, there has to be some alternative. Needs to work both on 1.5.97 and above.

My Fantasy Porn Simulator (aka Skyrim) is no place for minors.

Hiding all children can break the odd quest. This mod allows for that - can put the kid back in for quest whatever, then hide/replace them once more

I know, that's why I'm looking for a toggle, not permanent remover. Not that I actually do any quests, any more, for anyone.

Thank you for the link, I'll have a look at it.

Wow, this mod sure does have a tendency to break shit. I don't know what method it uses to disable child actors, but so far:

- breaks Ralof/Gerdur/Hod dialogue in Riverwood if Frodnar is removed

- breaks Irileth and the whole dialogue with Balgruf if his kids are removed

- breaks Rogvir's execution if Svari is removed

I wonder what other surprises are there. I have never had any of those things happen with SLSF.

I've had the Irileth breakage with SLSF. Took me a while to work that one out when it happened.

What if you use the no kids mod to replace but not hide the child actors? The process is well explained on the mods LL or Nexusmods Page. I guess you also could just re-enable the child-actors that break quests in the mods MCM. Also thanks

wondered what was causing that for a while now.

I don't want chickens. But you could test it yourself and share the results with the rest of the class.

I don't really know papyrus but if I interpreted the papyrus code correctly SLSF just moves the child actors somewhere, I guess out of bounds or something. No Kids disables the actors and in case the replace option is used spawns a new actor on the location of the disabled child. I believe that the actors being disabled causes stuff to break.

That would be consistent with my own observations. LOTD for example is notorious for causing the starting cart ride to be extremely bumpy on my setup, with the cart swinging wildly in all directions along with the camera. I had it happen several times that it killed Hadvar's horse and swept him under the terrain, so he was not present at the execution. The scene however proceeded normally, only the actors were talking to empty air.

Similar thing I observed with SLSF several times. The actors would speak to empty space and seemingly get responses. Which means that actor was present somewhere, just not visible.

Far as I know it works off a cloak effect, so it appears that it only removes child actors if the player is in proximity.

No Kids however seems to remove the actors entirely via some sort of script, probably disabling them completely. I presume this is why the scenes break.

My original query is still valid.

I am still looking for some sort of child actor remover that is not SLSF or No Kids.

This works for me. This a small patch for no kids overwriting nokids_kiddetectionscript.pex. It teleports child actors to the same location SLSF is teleporting child actors to (turns out that location is North Brittleshin Pass) and sets actoralpha to 0 turning them invisible. This practically removes child actors from the game while hopefully not breaking things.

The mcm doesn't work with this except the enable/disable mod checkbox. So if you cant progress a quest because you need to talk to a child actor something just disable the mod in the mcm and teleport the actor to you using the console. Also while at North Brittleshin Pass you might still hear the actors.

I made a mistake SLSF teleports actors to 00016264 (Volunruud) not to 00016265 (North Brittleshin Pass). But don't think that really matters after all the child actors are gone either way.

How interesting. I did not know that. My whole speculation about a different method was just a wild guess. Turns out I was on to something.

Thanks, I 'll give it a try when I'm able.

I may or may not return to this thread at a later date with feedback.
