is it me or does the assault spell not trigger animations? ive hit assault twice but it doesn't start the sex animations just strip them

Sounds like you're trying to start an animation with something that is not Whitelisted or has no animations installed (or both).

Just want to say, this is a great mod and I really appreciate the work that has gone into it

I just have one issue. I can't get combat sex to work with bugbears for some reason. I have them whitelisted, and they have animations available. If I use the BG3SX 2.0 interface to start a scene, I can make it work. However, using the assault option/spell does not work.

It just seems to be bugbears, since Assault works with goblins, ogres, harpies and even wargs. Bugbears are an anomaly for some reason.

Have you tried using the spell on the target multiple times? It's possible that the mod is trying to strip the bugbears but since not every race has a nude visual it might not look like it's doing anything.

I used it 4 times in a row, with the bugbear failing all its saving throws against Assault, but nothing happened. The reverse also didn't work, where I set the assault chance of NPCs to 100% and let the bugbear hit my characters. Bugbears are bugged for me.

Might be a whitelisting issue? I know when we made our whitelist we had to whitelist the 'SHORT' tag as well as the specific race tags or it wouldn't work, maybe bugbears have a 'TALL' tag that needs to be whitelisted or something similar? This is unlikely the cause because you said you can trigger scenes just fine with the BG3SX menu but I don't see what else could be preventing it - I'll make a note to look into it when we add support for tall race specific animations.

Seeing the same problems reported above.   Failing saving throws, but no sex animation.

Sex animation only lasts 1 round no matter how many rounds the duration is set for if and when it actually fires. .  Started a new game recently and the bugbears in both the ogre/bugbear barn (You know that one..lol)  and the sleeping bugbear in the village nearby did not perform the assaults.

Even at 100% chance for animations,  assault doesn't fire into a sex animation with the Absolute pair that you meet near the owlbear cave with their dying leader.

I'm on the latest Combat Sex version with the whitelist from this thread.

Hmm... I did have an issue with another mod, 'fantastical races' (or something like that) which was doing something to the bugbears which made them invalid targets for BG3SX. When I removed the mod, the issue was fixed. But maybe the mod left behind some residual changes to my game which are interfering with your mod? I guess I can try a fresh install and a new save file to see if that works.

Huh, maybe I'm not the only one having issues with bugbears.

Courtesy of OnlineBeast in BG Defeat thread:

On your BG Mod Manager
1) Click CTRL + P    2) Click the Script Extender tab    3) Check next to Enable Developer Mode     4) Click the Updater tab    5) Drop down Select Version     6) 30.0.0.0 02/07/2026

That fixed it for me!  Haven't tried out bugbears yet though.

So I reinstalled all my mods fresh to try it out, and the combat sex mod completely broke. I spent days trying to fix it, only to realize that my reinstall had coincided with the Script Extender update, and v31 broke the mod.

I just realized that, fixed it, jumped on here and found someone beat me to it. Kudos to you

The bugbears still don't work though. What version of script extender was used for the latest version of this mod?

Was on 31, reverted to 30 for script extender. That's what fixed it.

I'm sure no one will have a fix for this specifically, but while changing the updater did make the mod work, it actually didn't fully make it work. Using the Assault action does undress the enemy, but leaves them with no genitals and doesn't start a scene at all. I have to use it a second time for the scene to start and them to actually get FULLY undressed. Any fixes so it just... works the first time? thanks!

Okay this is a MAJOR bug for Combat Defeat.    If your Tav is engaged in sex with an enemy and that enemy is the LAST remaning NPC in the battle...the battle will end with the Tav in a bugged state.

Actually if that NPC disappears because no other characters are in combat like with the Hunted - Dynamic Ambushes and Revenge System mod.

The only way to break that bugged state is to have a companion kill your Tav then resurrect the Tav.  I suspect it may affect your other companions in similar situations.

Otherwise, that character remains unplayable and breaks the save.  My guess is that if nobody is in a sex animation when the last hostile NPC goes down, no bug will occur. But if a party member is locked in a sex animation with an enemy npc while the last actively hostile NPC is downed, then that party member gets bugged especially if the enemy he/she is engaged in sex with despawns after that. That's my guess.

Thanks for pointing this out, we did notice this during testing but I thought we fixed it, I've made what I think could be a fix but it's unfinished and can't test it because I use vortex and can't rollback the script extender (also working on other stuff atm so BG3 isn't my top priority). I'll make sure we get this fix, along with some others, out pretty quickly after the BG3SX framework is compatible with SE 31.

No BG3 Mod Manager?   I used to use Vortex and switched over to BG3 Mod Manager instead but each to his/her own.

You should actually be able to use BGMM just to change the SE version, and continue using vortex for managing files if you wish. I did the same because I'm using a Nexus collection.
I just ran BGMM, changed the SE version, launched the game once through BGMM, but found that the frame rate was significantly worse, so I tried launching through Vortex again. It kept the backdated SE version, and the framerate was back to what I'd normally get

I launch BG3 through Steam and update via BGMM.

Thanks for the free mod, it is one of the best I could find. Small note, it seems like the saving throw is not applied after initial successful assault. My scenes play indefinitely regardless of the turn set in the menu. I have to manually end the scene. I understand if you don't have the time, skill, or energy.
