Spyder Arachnid Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So I just did a fresh reinstall of Skyrim, used BOSS and I use NMM (yeah you can hate me for that later). Everything installed fine, did nothing different than I usually do, everything turned out just cherry. Ran BOSS, hoped in NMM to do some manual editing to my Load Order, and deselected a few mods that I didn't want running at start up in a new game. Everything was setup just like I always do it. So I open up Skyrim, start up a new game, and all the sudden all the mods I deactivated and running. I know, cause I use SoS and I deactivated that, yet it is loading up in the corner of my screen. I exited to make sure I didn't leave any of activated, opened up NMM, everything was just fine and dandy, no issues. Started up Skyrim again, new game, and once again, it started loading up all my mods I had deactivated. So I checked the data files under the launcher. It isn't using the same load order as NMM is, and it has all those deactivated mods, sitting at the bottom of my load order. So I got to AppData to check my load order list there. It has all my mods activated for some reason. No matter what I do, I can't deactivate anything and the game is using a completely different load order and mod list than I actually have. Note as well, I ran BOSS a few times trying to fix this, and every single time it kept downloading the masterlist, even though it shouldn't have to since it already has it. But it just kept downloading it. I'm thinking this is an issue with BOSS, but I'm not sure. I did a fresh reinstall of BOSS, and it still keeps downloading the master list over and over again every time I open it. But checking NMM, my load order is just fine. Nothing wrong with it. But for some reason my game is using a completely different load order. Mods I disabled are enabled, and the load order itself is a mess. Hopefully someone has an idea as to what is going on. I don't have Steam installed in Program Files, so that isn't the issue. Have been checking all online for an answer, and can't find anything that relates to my problem.
TnTTnT Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 For BOSS, try to change bUpdateMasterlist = true --> false BTW, did you start game with skyrim_launcher.exe at least once?
Spyder Arachnid Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Yeah, I started the game once with the launcher. Had to open it anyways to setup my graphic options. And changing that in BOSS did nothing. I even deleted the files in my Skyrim folder in AppData/Local/Skyrim, and ran BOSS again to refresh it and sorted via NMM as well afterwards. Got it all setup how it should be, yet it still keeps loading everything and ignoring my actual load order. Yet when I got back into NMM, my load order is just fine. But the game just won't recognize it and keeps loading a different load order. I really am at a loss here. Never had an issue like this before. I have only downloaded one new mod, and that was SkyKids. But that shouldn't affect my load order not working.

Yeah, I've found that with a new install and new game it's best for me to delete my Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPref.ini folders in my games/Skyrim then launch it with the vanilla launcher (even though I just quit as soon as it starts). If I don't it messes up the data files list in the Skyrim launcher (I've even not been able to access them before without a clean start).

Spyder Arachnid Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 After my uninstall, I deleted it all completely. Uninstalled BOSS, Uninstalled NMM, Uninstalled Steam (Skyrim is the only steam game I have installed at the moment), and went through all the folders and everything and deleted it all. When I say fresh reinstall, I mean fresh reinstall lol. Then I reinstalled them all, fresh copies. Nothing left behind to mess anything up either. That's why I'm baffled as to why this is happening. Even why BOSS keeps downloading the master list over and over again. It is all a fresh install, yet I can't control my load order. Something random is controlling it. I even checked the data files in the launcher and they are all messed up as well.
gvman3670 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 That is just weird, dude. I've noticed that I (maybe everyone) have to delete literally everything Skryim related (besides mod files and such) or it can mess up my new game. But if you did all that then I have no idea what could be going on. Maybe put "Skyrim" into your search field at the START tab. That's how I've found troublesome little bits that were escaping me before. Beyond that I haven't a clue. Good luck figuring it out, though.
venomg3 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\Skyrim make sure none of the load list are read only or just delete them all and let skyrim create new lists
Spyder Arachnid Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Yeah I already did that as I stated above. Didn't help. BUT I did find out it is an issue with BOSS. Finally found a few posts and issues on the BOSS site that are the same issue I am having. Seems to be an issue with the 2.1.1 version of BOSS, as it is no longer being supported. They have a new beta version (v3) out now, so going to give it a try and see if it fixes my problem. Otherwise I'll be back at square one again.
Redflyingmonkey Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 BOSS shouldn't be able to change your load order while you are in game though. I remember I had an issue like that before, well instead of reactivating my mods actually disabled themselves every time I started a game. To solve this, I went to the data files in the vanilla skyrim launcher, ticked everything off, then started a normal game without any mods. Then I quit, immediately, went to the vanilla launcher again, ticked everything on, ran BOSS and ticked everything on in NMM.
Spyder Arachnid Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Well BOSS isn't doing anything to my load order. It's not in control of it whatsoever. When I ran BOSS to sort my load order, it would show a proper load order, but it wouldn't write the information to my actual load order. So BOSS was doing absolutely nothing. The game was using a random load order on it's own, and BOSS or NMM wasn't in control of it. Update though, I tried the v3 of BOSS, and that doesn't even have a load order. It has all my mods in the absolutely wrong order. It's like it doesn't even have a masterlist at all and just throws them in there randomly. So now I got v2 BOSS that isn't even changing my load order, and now v3 BOSS that doesn't even sort my load order. Ugh, this is getting tedious.
