Monster_Kisser Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Hello! I'm new to this community and I've noticed that there are many Adult video creator modders on Patreon showing mainly Adult animations not made by them and so I've been wondering if adult mod creators usually take offence to this/do anything about it? I'm a 2D animator myself and considered making such Skyrim content including my personal animations (such as X-reys etc,) and I wanted to ask how does this community work overall when it comes to Skyrim Patreon content that just shows modded Skyrim.
MadMansGun Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 personally: annoyed. i did not spend years working on my mods to make other people rich. the mods were released for free and therefore should be viewable for free. but the bigger offense are the ones that do not give credit, anything they paywall should be re-uploaded to other sites with there name & Patreon account erased from the video. 6

Hey thank you for your comment! I love your works I'm sorry they aren't even giving you credit, Isn't there anything you can do about it? are there any copyright laws you can use to combat this?

Patreon does not care and many of us are not american so nether do there courts. case and point the mass mod theft that happened a few years back, some fucker stole & repacked 100s of mods and made over $1000 a month from it. our DMCAs were ignored.

After checking it looks like Patreon will protect the once who stole the content, if their videos will be 'stolen' and reuploaded outside the site if anything. so they are basically protected for as long as they don't reupload the mods themselves for people to unlock but videos/pictures are fine. That's unfortunate..

There's nothing mod authors can do about others using their work other than complain. Enforcement of mod authors' "rights" is via social not legal pressure. This issue has been hashed out ad nauseum and ad infinitum since the late Jurassic. Mods are likely to be considered derivative works based on someone else's copyrighted material. Thus my understanding is that mods are not copyrightable (although some particular aspects might be, such as original music or artwork). A search of "are game mods copyrightable" will give a bunch of hits. This is just one article from such a search, so it's not offered up as the first and last word on the subject, just as an example. https://kblroche.com/thinking-before-modding-players-dont-own-what-they-make-2656426399.html And a pertinent quote from the article, "Modding is copyright infringement as a matter of course [...] [because it] is [...] infringing on one’s [...] right to make a derivative work." All that said, I am not an intellectual property lawyer. Edited September 4, 2025 by Count Chocula

Of course your DMCA-based requests were ignored. The "C" in "DMCA" stands for "Copyright."
