SkullyChunks Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 Finally able to play since 8-19 update, most mods removed and on a new save. For some reason, some townies are radically taller or shorter than they should be. They are not stretched or squished, just very different. Does anyone know what would cause this?
PeterMcPhallus Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Do you by any chance have GODJUL1's Height Slider mod installed? That particular cc slider mod piggybacks height on the default foot size slider, so if the game generates a townie with big feet, they're taller too.

No, I didn't have that slider, I had a "Heightslidertoddlerfix", I pulled it out to see if it will change anything. I had 4 forehead sliders for some reason lol.

There is another file to keep and eye for as well, sims3melancholic_body highlight n8.package. This file will make your body selector in WW disappear and is quite common in some custom sims. Good thing though it doesnt seem to make a huge difference on how they look, or at least the ones I have.

Certain Sliders are made by different authors so even though it's not an identical file name it's still a duplicate of the same slot/item used. I make a separate folder for both 'Sliders Facial' and 'Sliders Body' and copy everything I can find related into them. Then you can examine them more closely to find something like 'eye sliders' made by two different authors. I try to stick with one author primarily like 'obscurus' except for a few they don't have. Downloading Custom Sims with included CC can be a real problem if you don't check all the CC closely. They might even include old copies of WW or other script mods. (After collecting cc for years I don't need anymore) (I don't really need 25 different lipsticks). Found a couple favorites I use all the time anyway. Lately I just download sims I like from the gallery and edit them with the cc I already have. It's just easier and less time consuming hunting for duplicates/broken cc. Then save them to my Library for future use. Using the MCCC import feature my game will use my saved sims rather than generating random townies.

I have done the same with gallery sims as well since I do have quite a bit of CC items aquired, its just whatever mood I'm in dictates which way I go. I have not ever tried the MCCC mod so dont know much about it. I might have to download and try to figure it out, I like the idea of the game using my saved sims rather than generated random ones. Thanks for sharing that!! 1

Thanks for sharing that!! Forgot to mention 'merged files'. Some ppl like to merge their cc into one large file rather than loading 10 to 100 small cc items separately. (Not so much anymore but I'm sure there is still some around). Users not knowing what cc files contained within you can get hidden duplicates and not even know it. Plus if you have a broken cc item from game updates inside the merged file it's much harder to find. I had to delete a merged cc file a long time ago and lost a bunch of cc I used all the time. Found a few of them to replace the ones lost but not all. The file was merged with a way older version and couldn't be un-merged. You might save a few seconds of game loading time from merging cc but it's not worth it for the problems it can cause long term. And the MCCC mod is a 'must have' for me as it can do so many other things without the need for 20+ separate mods. Way too many nice features to list here. The MC Woohoo module is a separate download but I like it too. Edited September 8, 2025 by Scorpio

I looked up and watched a couple videos on how to do it and what shouldnt be done. I did read about another program called AllDup. You can install, open it and search folders to find duplicate files. The so called benefit was to help reduce file size by removing duplicate files. The problem I ran into was, no matter how I set the parameters it would remove duplicate files but, alot of the duplicate files werent really duplicate since so many files in your Mods folder are almost named the exact except one or two letters. That rerally screwed everything up, but it did reduce my Mod folder by about 10GB...lol. Fortunately before I did that I saved my Mod folder to usb flash drive so I could put it back. I have just had a new 4 TB SSD installed in my laptop last week and I did uncheck the box for show mods at startup and that made a huge difference in load times. I also added the skip E/A Maxxis screen mod as well and even with a Mod folder of about 150 GB my game usually loads in about 3-5 minutes. I'm going to download MCCC Command today and give it a try. I was going to try it out sometime last year and it must have been after an update cause alot of what read that day was that is was broken and wasnt working with WW.
