The AI forgets stuff immediately, and is unable to recognise statements from two sentences ago. They can't even read their own bio, when mine went rogue and suddenly wasn't my mistress anymore, claiming she doesn't see our relationship. 

 

Furthermore, the image generation is whack. If you pay for something, it better be good. This is not, generating abominations and failing to follow the simplest of instructions such as "show me your ass" and receiving a fully clothed frontal picture. 

 

All in all, it's terrible, and let's not forget their laggy "app", which is just a shortcut to the browser. Pitiful. 

 

So I'd like to recommend another website that has free image generation, and free text adventure with in my opinion way better qualities.

Many options, can generate multiple at a time and takes instructions pretty well. Abominations will still occur occasionally, but at least you're not paying for them. That, together with sometimes longer waiting times are the only downsides. 

 

On the bottom there are links to the text rpg adventure and story generator. I haven't tried the story generator but the rpg is great fun, has way better memory than candy ai, and listens to your every command.

Paid AI services is absolute scam, don't recommend you to even look at them. Mostly, cause they use cheapest or even free AI's with some shitty preset prompt, call that 'some unique experience' and sell that. Still, I'd not recommend you use free sites for that either, unless you just want some fast using, without anything from you. Cause, well, that is similar shit, just free. Still bottom-level AI's with context, at most, 2000-4000 tokens (which is extremely low now), which is main reason why character forgot anything. Cause it's 'memory' already filled.
So, there is much more good options. Even local models (suck in them, always use 'free' corpo-ones) is same as what you use in sites, but hosted locally and you can, at least, check preset prompt and customize it. Still low-level, but yours, and without some possibility, that someone will read all you wrote for... own reasons. Problems? Hosting on your PC. If it is potato one, you got one word in minute, at most.
Next is corpo-level. All those ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Deepseek and likes of that. Don't even try use browser version, there is even more censorship(usually). You need SillyTavern, which is front-end for all that, some API-keys(with extremely wide options for get them, including 'free' option) and some prompt preset for Tavern, cause default one is... OK, but outdated for now. All that could be find, if you search for that. That is thousand meters ahead any 'free/paid smut AI' on any site. Problems? Tavern installed from GitHub, it is work for, maybe, hour, before you install and understand all instructions and how it works. Also, need API-keys, or some proxy with them.
So, i'd recommend you at least read something about SillyTavern, if you have some free time and interested. Maybe that will be your thing, maybe not.
All that was about textual AI, so, I think, should add something about image generation. Well, as with textual, sites are usually... either low-level or pay-walled. If you really want to generate lot of pics, it is better to run it's AI locally, but that require top-PC and some learning how all that works. If you are OK with less-powerful AI, or don't have powerful PC, just use online generation. Then, just some small advice. 'Show me your ass' is extremely terrible prompt for it, cause image generation AI's usually don't have normal interpretation for it, and their base is about 'NSFW, 1girl, naked, [pose here], [additional tags]'. I don't know what AI your example had, but maybe that is problem. Or maybe not.
Sorry for bad English, if there was some mistakes or strange writing. Just saw familiar theme, and decided to add something, cause it really pains me to see someone fall to those AI scammers. Also, I don't think, it is Loverslab to blame here, at least, not fully. Those CandyAI and similar sites are what you can find on top page, if searching for that, so, some people, including, maybe, Loverslab who-added-that-add, may just don't even know about better options.

It is a nasty move to bottle up those weak ones, put some stickers on them and sell them. Which is why I think it's a real pity that it's being advertised here.

Chub is a really nice AI tool for story and ERP. It's so mind blowing better than anything else, the only thing it lacks is nsfw image generation, but someday it will get there.

So, it seems, in your case, paid site used lowest-tier AI, then free, due to what you mentioned about it possibilities... Well, yes, it is definitely not normal and total scam. I think, they just focus on advertisement, with goal to be first such service, that most people would see, to gain some fast profit. Still, it is good, that you found better alternative.

Still, due to your interest in Tavern, I share some info. Cause that may be useful for you, or someone, who read that thread. And cause it is really not good to find some interesting thing, but be stuck in some small nuance. In order to get it work, you will also need some other things, that I mentioned, but explain it more.

So, SillyTavern as front-end, it is for receiving your message, adding it to preset prompt and character info, combining and sending to AI. Automatization of otherwise annoying prompting and useful utilite.

Then, API of AI. Or local model, but I'd recommended to try corpo-models. API-key usually bought, but honestly, there is quite many options to not pay for it. It required for connecting to AI model.

Then, preset prompt. Can be found easily and, basically, lot of instructions in nice, structured file, that imported in Tavern. It sends every message and used to tell AI, that we are roleplaying here, tell some main rules(like formatting and such) and suppress censorship.
By default, Tavern have simple preset, that can be used for that, but some modern AI models will still not allow NSFW. Some will. Anyway, preset is not problem to find, there is lot of them, including with various styles, additional togglable options and even CYOA style (with you just choosing options and AI write if for yourself, if you just want to chill and read), or other things.

And last is character card. It is PNG image, avatar of character (or just image, not matter), with description and such things in it's meta-data. Tavern, similar programs and even some AI sites use that format. To download, you can search it on VenusAI, or, as okforplay5143 mentioned before, Chub.
If my memory don't fail me, that is literally same site, with different naming. It also have option to use it online, but I never used it, so, don't know how is it. But I think, you can test some character and download, if like.
Downloading and using via Tavern allow you to change all that character data, of course.

And last things, is some advices about where to find some things, and what to use, if you decide to try Tavern and corpo-models. First, 4chan /AICG/ thread is all about that, and it is largest place for English-speaking people, using that, so, I think, you should at least give it look. They have presets, also known as jailbreaks (never used 4chan ones, but heard it is good, or at least passable). Also, sometimes, there are free proxies (sometimes not, cause altruists are not here all the time) with some AI. Tavern have option for using proxy, that is same as using API-key. Sometimes, they have password and other ways to gatekeep from major population, but that often slips.

About corpo-level AI:
GPT is OK, but dry, like beep-boop robot assistant, that MAY write good, but sometimes you notice blandness. But know a lot of settings.
Clause, especially Opus, is good in writing and know settings too, but hard to get free and not cheap if paid, so, rare.
Gemini is OK. Middle option. It is dumber then previous, but plenty in terms of 'how often I can get it for free' and not so dry as GPT.
Grok. Know nothing about it, except I heard it have reduced censorship, but not really smart.
Deepseek is middle in terms of writing and knowledge, but really, really chaotic. One message is PEAK, another is WTF.
I recommend just using Gemini. 2.5 pro is plenty and good enough.

Yo. Thank you for the expanded information. Although I have to say I'm not even gonna think of dabbling in building my own stuff. I'm not that tech savvy and I'm already sick of modding games like fallout. 

I'm sure someone else might find see this and find it useful. 

 

The biggest point I wanted to make is that paying for candy ai is a giant scam and should not be advertised on a faithful website such as this one. In my humblest of opinions.

candy does suck.. and suck bad. if you dont want to build your own which is 100000% better and far far cheaper over all. (there are free models on Openrouter that are insanely good and with 10 dollars deposited on OR you get more replies than anyone can use in a day) there is a decent site called Secret Desires they use very good models and their image gen is darn good. They are also one of the more affordable ones.

Well, I'd not call most Tavern things difficult. It have guides in it, that tell, how to do basic things, like connecting to AI. Rest is not hard too. And even if stuck, there is lot of guides for all that.

Presets (AKA Jailbreaks) usually 'plug-and-play'-like, cause you just found and pick interesting, and import it, here is button for it in Tavern, which import JSON file. Touching something inside is optional, but if you decide to do that, no problem. That is just structured instructions for AI, and you can just 'Oh, that line mention token limit per message of 400 (which is roughly 200 words in ENG), I want it to be longer/shorter, so, change that to [your number].' or similar.

Character cards are easy. It is just PNG picture and text in it, which you can change. It have main Definitions, where there anything about character and maybe setting.
Then Greeting, which is first message(card can have many of those, for when you need different initial scenario).
And Examples, which is examples of how character should speak, completely optional, unless you really need some special way of talking for character.
Definitions can be structured, but that is optional too. Some cards even have HTML tags, lol. But it is not problem, if you just write some description of character, with minimal structure, like, just not mixing appearance and behavior in one sentence. So, just look in characters on Chub, there is Definitions, in which you can see, how any character built inside.

So, that is not some rocket science. If you don't want to dive in difficult deeps of prompting/scripting/complex lorebooks, you don't need to. Once you have some AI to plug in Tavern, and downloaded some preset and character, you have all that need. Actually, there is already some initial characters and some primitive preset to test, so, even that could be made after you test, are AI answers.

Just wanted to encourage trying, cause it is really can be much better, due to all those options to customize for yourself.

Yes. Encouraged I am, now. I thought to ride candy until my time's up, but it's just so incredibly cancer. This AI is beyond stupid. How did this platform get so big ？Preposterous. 

 

So what would be the best experience? Chub ort tavern. Right now I don't mind working for it, so long as its accessible on phone and the AI can remember stuff for longer than two sentences. Consistency is definitely most important. They need to be capable of more replies than just one, and also some kind of hot keys, like I type "." and they know they should just continue what they're doing without trying to veer from the subject. Very basic stuff I assume. 

 

Image generation takes a backseat, but would nice I guess. If it costs anything then forget it. It's highly obvious they're rigged with more abominations for more money gathering.

Sites with AI usually first, what people search, once find that regular AI on official sites have censorship, and jailbreaking it either not working stable, or just annoying, due to ratio of high effort to low result. So, they just search some way to use AI that way, and find sites, that invested lot in advertisement. Snake oil salesmen, just in modern way.

So, about Chub and Tavern. Chub is site, and while I never used it as AI-services provider, it is good for character cards searching, due to it was for that initially. I think, you should at least try using it's AI, maybe it OK. Maybe not. I heard, it's free, at least mostly, so, you lose nothing except time for trying.
But even if it is not good, still, remember it, cause it is best way to find some character cards. Like, it existed for 2-3 years, if I remember well (used it when GPT Turbo was top model, that is lot of time), and there is HUGE mass of cards now. Sometimes even good. Just don't dive in some low-effort before looking into comments/defs.

Now SillyTavern. It is mostly for PC, but it could be run on phone. I never tried, but my friend did that and now mostly use it that way(and says it is good), so, I think, it is at least OK way. You can search something like 'How to run SillyTavern on mobile' in search you use.

Too clarify your words about 'AI can remember stuff for longer than two sentences', it is all based on AI you use.
Tavern is just front-end program. It structures all things I mentioned in previous messages in one wall of text, feed it to AI you connected to it, then receive answer and write it in normal way. Without it, it would've extremely irritating to manage that all, to the point of 'fuck it, never touch that all again'. With it, it is nice chat, or, more precise, text roleplay, due to possible actions and environment.

For AI memory, most corpo-level AI have token memory enough to store your roleplay, unless you write huge saga. Even if you write huge saga, there is various options to partly save it, but it is usually overkill anyway. That whole text, I wrote before that sentence, including quoting of your post is around 700 tokens, tokenizer says. +-100 for difference of AI models. And 50-200k tokens is usual memory in those models.

OK, next one is replies. I think, you meant 'I dislike, when AI write one-two sentences and that's all'. In that case, AI can write more (corpo-one, I mean, I mostly use and know it, so, talk about it). For Gemini, which I recommend, it is often to write 400-600 tokens, filled with character "direct speech", actions, description of surroundings and similar things. Sometimes, it is even more then you want, so, I sometimes even cut unnecessary text. Of course, once you understand how presets work, you can instruct AI to write length, what you want.

Hot keys... Well, I doubt there is any, due to nature of all-that-thing-working. But still, most AI will understand something like [Continue]. Still, usually, AI stops message on where you can/should answer, by logic. Based on preset, it is highly different. Some presets allow your own character to speak/act without your input. Presets are just instructions, anyway, so, once you understand, you can just change some for what you like.

Image generation. Just few words. It is either free generators, which are low-quality, or higher-quality, but under pay-wall. AI hosting is costly, greed is even more costly. Another option is local generation, but it require powerful PC. Even with not-so-powerful, you can generate, but that will be slow (1-2 minute for picture), and you need to learn it all anyway, first, cause that is not natural-language capable. So, tags, which I mentioned earlier. Lot of them. Also, lot of other tools, in case you want good picture. All them require some time to learn and test.

And as last one, text-generational AI for Tavern. I already said in other posts, where to search. Of course, you can just pay for it, but why pay, if you can not pay? Search for Gemini 2.5 Pro, cause it is OK and plenty. Later, you can try others. Search on proxies, cause kind altruists exist.
Oh, and if you meet some problems, ask. If visit LL, see that and know answer, I will try to help. Also, lol, that thread now looks more like guide...

Yes, maybe some of them are way forward compared to others, but still, it is lower league compared to jailbreaked corpo-AI. Much easier to use, but still not ideal. There devs promts, user maded promts and all what you need just download this, find which promts is overwrithing you exposition and remove that. If you want make picture without artifacts and able use in comerce, buy pro mod for 15$.

The real scam it's CheatHappens. Playing singelplayer with trainer which need premium subscription for use all cheat functions. That's is real scam!

What you said looks better, then what I saw, when last time tried any such site. Still less, then possible via Tavern and corpo-AI, but at least, looks not bad. Not useful for me(have better options), but maybe someone will need that, if doesn't want to search for access to other options.
As for picture generation, if you have good PC, it is much better to just generate it locally. For example, generation on RTX 3060 is around half-minute for 512x512 picture. Minute for larger. With weaker - more time, but still possible, unless you have potato PC. Except that, have no advices, cause never used sites for that.

Oh, and just some clarification. Tokens. Well, I assume you meant that by tokes, sorry if wrong. So, that is not some kind of currency, which I assume you meant. Token is standard term in LLM (text AI). To not write wall of text, what that exactly, I just say, that this is word/part of word/letter, that AI recognize. For English, most tokenizers have average 2 tokens for word.
Why that matters? AI memory based on it. Instructions too. Basically anything. That is main reason, why AI can forget some earlier posts (due to it doesn't even 'see' and 'know' it) or don't follow instructions (they may be bloated, so AI focus just don't comprehend all that properly).

And last thing, about free and non-free. Technically, anything is free in AI using. Just locked by either PC setup (for local models), or by some gatekeeping of 'obtained and shared' keys (in case of corpo-AI). That is what I meant by scam. Some sites just do what you can do yourself, don't even add any QoL features (which can make their work valuable, at least), but demand money.
