(Blender) Question : Creating rigged props for animations

Recommended Posts

Hello there, in the process of making a WW animation pack, I had the idea of creating a custom rigged item (a pocket watch) that could be used in game as an interactive prop during animations (similar to the bed sheets and curtains that we can interact with by moving their bones in Blender). Unfortunately, it seems that despite all my attempts at including the rig in the object, Sims 4 Studio doesn't save it while exporting the mesh.

Honestly, I don't even know if such a thing is actually possible — which is partially why I'm asking here — I've tried to search for some tutorials but none of them seem to talk about this.

Are there any naming conventions necessary to make Sims 4 Studio register the armature ? Thanks per advance.

Hey! I recommend asking about this on the Sims 4 Studio forum, they will be able to help you pretty fast. It doesn't matter what the purpose is of creating this object/prop, if it's made properly for the game then WW animations will be able to use it just fine.

Greetings, thanks for your answer, it's good to know that custom items can actually work. I've been practicing a bit and it seems that the old rig I've made was far from being convenient. I'll check their forum to get some info. Thanks.

I'm trying to do the same as well. With the custom cum prop and its rig, but the Studio software doesn't have custom rig for object/prop to be put in Blender :(

I guess there may be a way since some props such as beds do posses custom bones. Maybe it's mostly a matter of putting specific names, I didn't take the time to see that since my initial post but that will be something to elaborate on.

my goal is to bring the whole animation into blender for better quality. but i can only export humanoid sims animation, there's no specific rig to be selected for "cum mesh" or "bed/other props"
