Sexout Character Resize - NO LONGER NEEDED

Recommended Posts

Seems to work with console changed scale, but mods with fixed height settings, like Arwen's, don't seem to work.

I'm assuming that you're referring to Arwen's Realism Tweaks?  I've never used it.  I looked through her page and the mod's site on the nexus (the forum as well as the user guide).  All I can see without opening the mod in the GECK is that it looks like you can change the player's height.  Do you know if that's the only height that's changed by that mod?  Is that what isn't working for you, or does the mod affect other character's heights as well?

I can/will crack it open in the GECK, but I won't be able to get to it until later today or tomorrow.

Thank you for letting me know and for helping me get it compatible once more.

EDIT:  Can you tell me what you've got your player size set to, mist?

Well I haven't experimented with it too much, but I'll play around with it tomorrow to answer a couple of your questions and give you more results.

She actually added the height change recently in Oct or Nov. The way you change your character's height (and only your character) is through an Options menu the mod puts in the Aid Inventory screen. The player size I want to be is 5'6 (but keep it on default 6' for now).

I have the core Arwen mod towards the top of the load order, with the supplements towards the bottom.

mistkae:  I took a look at Arwen's mod in the GECK and nothing really struck me.  I installed the mod and activated everything except for the Camera one, having all of the esps come at the end of my load order.  I set my char to 5'6", and it resized before and after without problems with the caveat that I did *something* within the past few days that broke my SO animations (people are clipping through one another and just standing there).

I'm assuming that you ARE getting sex animations though, right?  It's just that the characters aren't shrinking/growing?  I haven't used the wsex mods, and I use very few of the SO mods.  So I don't know if one of the other sexout mods may affect size.

When it's not working, are the NPCs all scale 1, or are they set to different sizes as well?  I know that the larger I set the size difference, the more finicky the results.  5'6" is definitely within the okay range.

Still not working for me, I'd have to cycle through mods one at a time to find the culprit.

My suspicion at this point is that if it's not Arwen's then it might be Amra's new animations. Of course, I've had wonky conflicts between mods in the past, a sound mod conflicted with a zoom-in on rifles, so it really could be anything.

So, yeah I can see animations but there's no resizing effect. Most NPCs are 1, and it makes no difference what size I use for the PC.

Mist:  See if this works for you.  It fixed it for me.  I still had it above Arwen's in the load order, so that shouldn't make a difference.

I guess that this may come up with people using other camera mods.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the 4 affected are the only ones that will make the difference or if I'll have to hunt down other variable changes.

*shrug*  I started learning in September, had a hiatus, and then really started learning in December.  Honestly, the worst part is learning the quirks of some objects (no you can't equip misc objects, yes you can equip books but only if it doesn't grant you a skill) and learning how the parts of the GECK play together.  If you've had any exposure to programming, the scripting is easy to pick up (caveat:  function quirks).  If not, tutorials and learnin's! (http://www.cipscis.com/fallout/tutorials/beginners.aspx

There is a TON of info out there.  There's the GECK wiki.  Any time it links to the TES Wiki, you have to enter the search term into the search field on that page because I guess they rearranged the structure of the site so all of the links are broken.  X P  People on here are quite helpful.  The Nexus Forums are rife with questions and answers.  There are also a decent amount of videos on youtube for how to do different things in a mod.  I've learned a lot by searching for a mod similar to what I want to do and/or opening up a mod that I already have with some functionality that I like and looking at how it's put together.

To anyone else paying attention, I'll look into putting this functionality into the main file more elegantly (read:  I'm tired and will probably do it tomorrow).

  • 3 weeks later...

My anims never lined up so nicely as they do with this mod.  And I don't normally change any scaling manually.

I found out something I thought I should pass along.  I had trouble getting this to work at first, was having a similar issue as arwens above.  I use IMCNNV, which has height and weight scaling built in.  By default it sets your PC height and weight according to your stats.  Mine usually ends up somewhere around 5'7".  It also let's you add/subtract feet/inches to manually set your height.

For this mod to work with it, you must set the 'height scaling' option to 0 (disabled) in the Pip IMCNNV height and weight options menu.  Once I did that, Vee-Ola, it started working noticeably.

Great job with this mod.  Hope this helps.

@T:  So if I understand this correctly, it set the height and weight based on stats ONLY for the PC, not NPCs, correct?  I wonder if it does anything with the camera there too /random.  I don't even remember exactly what was happening with Arwen's.  X*(  There's nothing funky with the animations except that the heights aren't changing, right?

@Halstrom:  Thanks for the tip!  Perhaps I can rework it to avoid these types of issues.

Yes only the PC.  I'm not really sure what 'height scaling' actually does in IMCNNV, but yes, once it is disabled, then the resize happens.  Enabled, the resize never happens.  Though it's hard to notice unless you're scaling to a substantial degree, which is why I didn't notice it wasn't working until I manually scaled down by 1'.

T:  Can you reenable that option, do GetNPCHeight in the console, and let me know what it says?  When I use that function, I get 1.0 every time.  Evidently, it's different for scales and heights somehow.  Scale = Height + Weight + <Wild Wasteland icon>?

I think I figured it out.  I always get 1 also.  All that setting does is actualize the height, as opposed to keeping height as an imaginary stat.  When you set it, there's a slight delay, and then it applies the height.  Before I was catching that delay and it stopped the resize from happening.  So I thought it had to be disabled because if I disable it, it doesn't apply anything, and therefore everything works.

So I was wrong, it's not setting it to disabled that keeps things working.  It's waiting until after IMCNNV applies the scale that keeps things working. ie. Don't try to set height in IMCNNV and then jump right into sex, let it apply itself first.

I'm sorry to hear that it isn't working for you.  : \

I wouldn't think that the pose mods would do anything, but honestly, I'm still really new to modding (and figuring out what breaks what).  : \

And I'll be perfectly honest that I'm really surprised that more people haven't reported problems.  I'm helping test Sexout DRL (read: harrassing T3589), and it seems like every time I install a new version, Sexout Char Resize doesn't work until I clean save for it (not DRL).

SO!   With all of that happy introduction out of the way...

1)  I'm going to guess that a clean save for it doesn't work (toggle SO Char Resize off, save, toggle it back on)?

2)  Do you have any other mods that affect PC or NPC heights?

3)  Can you post your load order under a spoiler so that I can tinker through it?
