(solved) Skyrim LE - Keyboard stopped working - some ideas why? :x...

So, like the title says, just gonna additionally say,

- Did tried reinstall

- Did tried with and without SKSE

- Did disabled Steam Controllers and Overlay

- Did do few other things

Some other ideas?

It's not big issue because im using Skyrim LE for making mods and AE for actually playing...

But having LE working would be great... because I could keep working with LE CK and have fast load time for testing xD

If You ask what I was doing before this happend?

Well, I was not doing anything tbh. I only started the game and at some point noticed, oo... keyboard not working,

and it's like totaly not working, its not just that I cant move, I cant even pick main menu options with arrows and keyboard, I cant even open Consoel Window...

It feels like Skyrim does not see keyboard at all...

//Edit: ( Solution - if someone in future will have same issue and founds that topic :P )

Just go to SkyrimPrefs.ini and set these two lines:

bGamePadEnable=0
bMouseAcceleration=0

They must be set to 0, as far as I learned Skyrim can by accident, because it Just works, detect for example

headphones or mouse as Controller and change into controller and ignore completly keyboard...

Skyrim: "Hey, nice controller you got there!"

Player: "Controller? I plugged headphones..."

Skyrim: "Okay, changing Ini settings to controller!"

Player: "I didn't asked You to..."

Skyrim: "Sure, let me make things just work!"

Player: "Things don't work, Todd >.<!"

No controllers plugged into your PC?  Windows keyboard language matches Skyrim language setting?  Tried a new game?  You deleted all Skyrim INI files before reinstalling Skyrim?

I had similar issues when I played on AE before opening LE. Rebooting my machine helped.

(And no, shutting down Windows over night is not a reboot, that's just some kind of deep standby.)

Well, I didnt deleted Ini files, I will try that later, and yeah, its just for Mod Testing so I dont have any saved games, I always start with coc but because I cant even open console my only option was to start new game :x...

Will try the ini-s

Well I always put it to Sleep, i pref. it that way, so I never rly rebooted, would be weird that AE would affect how LE works...

But well, will give it a try too :x

Thank ya for help, the issue is solved now!

For no reason at all Skyrim changed SkyrimPrefs.ini and set these two lines to:

bGamePadEnable=1
bMouseAcceleration=1

"1" while they should be "0" :x...

Could say that deleting Ini files probably would help, but got help also from different source and just changing 1 to a 0 helped this time :D

I'm glad that your problem is resolved, but I'll mention something that might be of use to you (or another reader) in the future.

In my SkyrimPrefs.ini file, I see that bGamePadEnable and bMouseAcceleration are both set to 1, but I have no trouble using the mouse & keyboard (I don't have a controller plugged in).  So, it's great that setting those values to 0 fixed the problem for you, but it doesn't seem to be necessary.  I want the mouse acceleration, and Skyrim recognizes my keyboard and mouse and uses them.  Perhaps the difference is that I've never had a controller plugged in when playing the game.

I don't think this is the real solution.  A lot of things can cause the keyboard to not work in Skyrim.  If you use borderless windowed mode, for example, and something else takes focus away from the TESV.exe process.  Windows updates can cause the keyboard to stop functioning depending on keyboard manufacturer, or communication method (if wireless).  If you use multiple monitors, any number of issues can occur.  Sometimes all you need is a reboot.

Again, while setting these values to 0 in SkyrimPrefs.ini seems to have fixed it for you, there is likely something else at play.  Perhaps you have drivers or software installed that controls these devices (e.g. Logitech, etc.) and either Windows or the software are competing for control of these devices.  One gets updated silently (i.e. Windows) and the malfunction will occur until the other is updated.  If you don't know what causes the problem it will likely occur again.
