sophiextime Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 (edited) Hello all. About 5 years ago i heavily modded skyrim SE. lots of nexus and Loverslab mods. I think i was close to 350 mods and yes it did CTD now and then but generally didn't have many issues as i was careful. But i did use mods like Cutting Room Floor, FNIS XXL , SKSE ( obviously), Skyrim Special Edition Patch, SkyUI, LOOT, MO2, Legacy of the Dragonborn SE ( which i unsure is stable with heavy modded game?) etc. Now i want to mod the game again but now have Skyrim AE . I do want to keep it AE and not intended to drop back to SE. So what i mean is i want the latest versions of mods and to use latest version of SKSE . I am hoping a lot of sexlab mods have managed to catch up with AE as well as on Nexus. Is there any mods i likely used before like listed above that i should now NOT use? any that was fine before but now known to be prone to being a problem? I want to find out asap so when i start heavily modding skyrim AE i wont find i just CTD all the time. or worse, cant even run the game. I do want to use MO2 as i have been confident and use it for Fallout4 and Starfield. I have seen some modding guides but they seem old and dated so wasn't sure if they was good to follow. Thank you for any who respond. Edited July 12, 2025 by sophiextime 1
Miauzi Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 26 minutes ago, sophiextime said: Hallo zusammen. 2

pheonex2077 Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Don't use cutting room floor or fnis/nemesis. Instead of finis/nemisis use Pandora. Stick with a 3ba body for outfits but use soft body ontop of that so when they get naked all collisions are accurate and work properly schlong bends into vagina instead of staying stiff and lips/internals move and it get sucked into oral animations and bends and moves combine that with hdtsmp lips and throat and youll have a good base for any ostim/sexlab mods however with ocreatures and ostim where they are now sexlab is still used but it kind of takes a back seat. also if your pc isn't a power house look into lossless scaling you can download it on steam to double your fps. I play on a 3050 laptop and get 60fps locked with it and 30 without I use an enb and smp clothes and hair on all the npcs
JimUpdating Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 tasairis's SE Compatibility Tracking - Detailed View has a list of all the LL mods, including those which are now incompatible/not updated, so if there is a key mod from LE that you want then this will indicate if there is a problem. If you're starting from SE mods, then if it used scripts/papyrus/address library then it's probably updated with AE, there was a big push in the mod community for various NG versions of mods that became version independent to cope with the rapid updates in AE about 3 years ago. male bodies - SoS vs SAM vs TNG/Himbo - I've moved over to TNG/Himbo. Steam - go into the steamlibrary/steamapps directory, and set appmanifest_489830.acf to read only, that will block steam updates. Mods with big quest lines (Slaverun, Mia's lair) that made the port into SE should work fine with AE; the quest triggers should work. Mods that only partially made the port (Island of Mara), or may have been pushed through CAO to get to SE, if they had issues with SE then those issues persist in AE. Devious Devices - now has the NG patch to take DD 5.2 into AE, and seems to shift some of the animations into Open Animation Replacer. Take a look at Unforgiving Devices. There's also the Toys and Love option. Sex Fame/SF Comments - there seems to be an update in progress for SF and comments. Animations - welcome to the world of Open Animation Replacer, which takes a lot of the strain off FNIS animation limits. As to Ostim/SexLab - the OStim seems to have forked in development, so be careful which versions of mods, and which mods, you get. Not all of the O-family are intercompatible. The O-family seems to be more about 1-on-1 with a decision tree you can choose which action/speed to attempt next, and some defeat/romance/dialogue triggers. SL has the variety of quests (Slaverun, Mia's Lair, Sanguine, Molag Bal), and while the animations are prepackaged it does have the option for up to 5 participants in each scene. As to FNIS/Nemesis - as I mentioned, open animation replacer has made FNIS's animation limits easier, with a lot of combat/idles/gestures moving into OAR leaving FNIS animation slots for SL/SLAL. FNIS XXL is stable, and if anything goes wrong then there's easier support. If the animation works with FNIS then it should work with Nemesis, but the key is "should" and that support can be thinner on the ground. Mantella/minAI - this is probably the big change in 5 years. Welcome to NPC's having a personality and conversation. Mantella is somewhat limited - the AI is a passenger in the NPC body, you can talk with it and it will recognize when things happen, but is limited on what it can get the NPC to do. MinAI allows the AI to trigger events (ie SL scenes). Both are heavy on your system if running locally. 2
plutocene Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Hey you, you are finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? I would agree with the previous suggestions, most importantly ensure that the foundation plugins like address library etc. are all of the correct (AE)version. Pandora is probably the biggest change in animation, as it replaces Fnis and Nemesis. OAR as mentioned is also a crucial mod to have, being used for many animation mods. In regards to bodies, for male bodies, I'd take TNG over SOS. Female bodies, 3BA has now taken over everything in HPH combo. UBE is a new female body replacer, if you want to be more experimental, runs fine along 3BA, and is mainly used for the player. Ostim standalone has become massive, I tend to favor it over sexlab although I run them in parallel, so some mods use SL some Ostim. In regards to rendering, Community Shaders is an interesting alternative to ENB, its quite complex to set up as it has about a dozen plugins at this point, but offers quite stunning visuals, highly customizable and can be combined with reshader and upsaler. Thats how I run it. 1
sophiextime Posted July 20, 2025 Author Posted July 20, 2025 These replies have been amazing and so detailed. I really appreciate it. I shall carefully go through them and adjust and try your suggestions. you seem to be on the same page so to speak so no conflictions it seems which is a relief. i was worried numerous people would give very different replies and leave me even more confused lmao. so thank you so much. ♥
pheonex2077 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 I have another additon, Crash logger sse. You can drag the output file into chatgpt and it will make sense of it for you telling you exactly what is causing the crash and how to fix it. Recently I had a single particle mpsfireballsparktrail from the mod enb light that would cause random crashes. Chat gpt solved it for me and suggested I just copy and rename a file that has a similar particle to that name and override the broken one. worked like a charm.
darthnoldor Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Thanks Buddy, For the past few years, I've always played the pre-Anniversary version, making only a few changes to the mods I used. But now I've changed PCs and, after years, I need to reinstall Skyrim. This thread, like all the other information, is incredibly helpful. Thanks! Finally, can anyone tell me if there's a collection on the Nexus site that installs Sexlab, perhaps for both the "old" version and the "Anniversary" one, if I'd like to try it. I found some collections finalized in Loverslab for Fallout 4 (yes, I had to reinstall that too), and they were very helpful. Thank a lot! 😍💓 BYE
