manjul Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Whats the point of it exactly? Why would you want to make the monster go away from you? Is it not better to just kill it? I can see the appeal from a RP point of view (a Paladin class, etc), but as a mage I always just kill it with destruction.
fejeena Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 If there are too many attacking you at the same time and you cannot fight or cast spells because you are knocked off balance by their blows. So before the horde reaches you "drive them away" with the turn undead spell and then shoot or cast them in the back. And with a "Turn Undead spell," the undead don't flee for long or very far. So it's ideal for mages and archers to kill them. But I never use those spells either. I retreat to areas I've already cleared of undead, using bows or spells against the horde following me.. Or if one undead is faster than the others, I use melee against it and retreat before more undead reach me. (I can usually kill individual undead quickly because I'm better at melee than ranged or spellcasting.) And I rarely run into a horde of undead. I sneak and kill most of them before they notice me. Yes, the spell is pointless against single undead. ... Unless you enjoy shooting people from behind.
pprain Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 I believe repulse undead works for the effect, but I believe you need to be able to cast the spell to be able to apply it, at least that's how it's on with spellmaking. Repulse is an apprentice level spell, which requires 25 conjuration. Turn undead is novice, so it's more accessible.
jimson8 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Yeah it's a bummer. Though I do have a tip for a paladin: Do not make conjuration a major skill (I mean really, you'd be wasting a major skill for 1 spell, because I doubt your paladin is gonna be summoning undead/daedra) Go with the ritual birthsign. Birthsign powers are not subject to spell effectiveness, so you can turn any undead creature in the game with that one, even in heavy armor.
