Removing Body Branch from nif

I'm trying to take a Full Metal Bikini cuirass which has had some nifscope modifications made to it from a body slot to a secondary slot to allow them to be worn as a pauldron and not replace the player body.

Now I've done this before and had it work. This one for some reason, no matter what I try it continues to cause the body vanish.

1. I've switched armor locations in CK fro BODY to AMULET (may shift it to an unnamed slot)

2. Removed the body branch from the armor in Nifscope

3. Removed bogus nodes

I'm not sure if my problem is in the nif... as in some vertices or nodes assigned to the body branch still in place that is causing issues, or if its in the CK.

I was looking at the Spine 1, 2, and 3 nodes being the cause, but I'm unsure if they are needed for proper positioning of the upper chest plate. I noticed when I removed all 3 that the mesh shifts forward a tad.

Attached is my current WIP nif if anyone with a true understanding of Nif-Fu is willing to take a look.

I'm just looking for things I may have missed or unaware of. I'm sort of still learning the tool.

Yup....and this is what happens when you mess with tool you barely understand hehheh. I understand your concepts of having to assign all the nodes to the amulet slot, makes perfect sense. With my inexperience however, I don't even know where to look to begin that. Side by side, I'm seeing all the same data, so there is something that I haven't discovered yet.

Thank you to both of you however, B3lisario for your wisdom and Stevie for the modified example. At least with this I can dissect it and is if I cant see where you made the alterations to the node assignments.

.....that and I'm totally going to use it in game since it sounds as if it will function how I was hoping.

I really need to learn this stuff properly one of these days.

EDIT: No, it still hates me lol. Ah well...

A picture speaks a thousand words. Holy crap that was exactly what I needed, thank you. Yea I just double checked my CK settings. Its assigned only to Slot 54.

Now a question about the nif again. Is it just the dismemberment assignment I need to address as shown in your picture? b3lisario mentioned something about property partitions. Are those listed in the same manner as dismemberment?

edit: Wait... the assignment of body slot location is the partition property isn't it...

Maybe I gummed something up with one of my previous attempts at it before I posted. Maybe I accidently deleted something I shouldn't have. Let me start with a fresh nif. With what you have shown me I should be able to easily get back to this point. Thanks again!

Ok, after starting over with a fresh, original nif of the armor in question, I find myself right back where I started.

I have the nif at the exact point where Stevie left off with me with the only difference of that I changed the partition property to the amulet slot, more for testing then anything else.

The only new, but significant result I'm seeing now is that while the PC is wearing armor, the modified armor piece will equip in the amulet slot without issue but is not visible. However if the PC is nude and equips the modified piece, the torso once again disappears. Once I equip normal armor with the modified part sill equipped, the body and regular armor appears normally. I did double check the esp already to make sure only the amulet slot was highlighted as the assigned location.

So my new question is this;

1. For a component to only appear in its modeled location (ie on shoulders as a pauldron should) are there specific body nodes that I must insure are accounted for?

2. Are there other node/variable settings (like the dismemberment partition property) that I need to look for that may be left over from the previously removed UNP body mesh?

3. Is this really all worth the aggravation just for frigging pauldrons?!?

As you can see in the attached nif, I removed all bogus nodes that was attached with the original UNP body that was modeled with the armor. I'm attaching an original as well for comparison. Currently the only nodes remaining in my WIP nif are the 3 spine nodes and nodes directly attached to the armor components since if I remove any of those I CTD when I try to equip the modified piece along with a normal armor.

A couple of things to check first:

1. Make sure you have this set to whatever slot you are gonna use on all pieces of armor etc (which you have done).

2. Again make sure this is set to the same slot as the nif (same as above).

3. Double click the ArmorAddon it should be whatever its called with AA at the end ('nameAA').

4. Also make sure this is set to the same slot and remove any other slots that might be highlighted.

Also make sure if you equip other pieces of armor it doesn't use the same slot as one will unequip or hide the other.

Again, the picture speaks wonders for me. Thank you for taking the time to snap and post them Stevie.

I haven't cracked open the CK yet as of this post, but just from your explanation and the pics, step 3 is the hang up. I specifically remember the model being used is not an AA. The original mod is that of a full body cuirass, the model used is listed as such. I'm guessing I'll need to make a new ID for the a CuirassAA and match it with my chopped up nif. I should be able to do that. If I can get my Staff of Healing to work, making an ArmorAdd-on cant be too much harder.

Once I hammer out step 3, I figure step 4 will fall right into place. Thank again for the support. Its nice to actually understand what I've been doing wrong.

No, I understood what AA meant. This is what I get for posting before taking a look at what was up though.

Stevie nailed it, it was his step 4. The AA location setting was still set to BODY. It was a setting I was previously unaware of. Here, take a look.

NSFW Profit!

So again, a big thanks to Stevie for your support and advice.

Now that I understand all this.... time to dismantle the rest of my skimpy armor wardrobe....MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

edit: Now to fix those F'ing man-hands... they look awful.
